raising families.”
(Gay Bryant, 1948)
The INVISIBLE BARRIER preventing women from reaching to the top job.

“CEILING” An upper limit that women face when climbing up to the corporate ladder.

FINDINGS & ANALYSIS
PERSONAL TRAIT1 Individual Factors HAVING A DESIRE OF SUCCESS
(CASE 6)
["I learn from both my superiors and subordinates. I never hide ignorance, if I do not know, I am not afraid to ask

(CASE 2)
["For women, everyone is a talent. What important is that person can understand herself or not. When she is able to
discover her strengths, her forte; she can create her own opportunities or engage with the environment to
lift up herself. That is extremely important.”](CASE 2)
CAREER
FINDINGS & ANALYSIS
PERSONAL TRAIT1 Individual Factors BEING “KNOW YOURSELF”
(CASE 6)
FAMILY
[“In the company, I am a boss, I can reprimand employees, can be strict with my subodinates but
when stepping out of the office, I am a normal woman. That is what I keep reminding myself. When
working, I may dismiss my employees; all that attitudes and behaviors for the purpose of working
effectively. However, it does not mean that we can bring our power trip home.”](CASE 6)
BARRIER: WORK-LIFE BALANCE2 Family Factors
(CASE 7)
[“When you have not been busy, you spend time for your children, reading book every night, learning
together. But now, you focus more on career, you do that because you will have higher salary to make your
children life better. Then, you are so busy at work, you can not study with your children as usual when
coming home late 9 pm when your children already go to bed. You think, okie, your children will
understand since you do it for them. Do you think your children can understand?“](CASE 7)

FINDINGS & ANALYSIS
SPOUSE SUPPORT

(motivating, listening, encouraging etc.)
2 Family Factors
2 3 Organizational Factors 4
FINDINGS & ANALYSIS
HOW TO KEEP A HAPPY FAMILY
. Women have learn how to role shift effectively.
. Keep communicating with each other to
understand, respect and the, sympathize and support.
(CASE 2)
3 Organizational Factors
BARRIER:
PREFER MALE BOSS RATHER THAN FEMALE BOSS
phải lỗi là do lãnh đạo nữ hay nam mà là do mình
không phải là lãnh đạo tốt.”(CASE 3)
WORKPLACE CULTURE is Important.
HOW IT HELP?
. Ignoring the glass ceiling
. Asking for what they want and deserve to have
(CASE 2)
FINDINGS & ANALYSIS
Cultural Factors4
HOLDING HIGHER POSITIONS THAN THEIR HUSBANDS
FACING BARRIER BECAUSE OF:
SOCIAL PREJUDICE
. Not hurting their husband’s pride
. Having higher position in career than husband,
their family is less happy
