Getting Hooked• The Internet can become

addicting. It has been known to take over people’s lives.

• People who are hooked:• Use the internet constantly.• Don’t go outside to play.• Spend more time online

than with friends.• Are attached to their

computer 24/7

• The Internet should enrich your life, not rule it!

Flaming• Sending messages meant to

hurt someone’s feelings.• Harassing or bullying

someone online.• If someone does this to you:• Save the hurtful messages.• Tell your parents, teacher,

or an adult you trust.• If you do this to someone

else:• Remember that once you

put it out there, you can never get it back.

• Once it’s out there, it can be traced back to you.

Internet and try to get information from you to give to other people.

• Advertisements and spam often have this.

• Watch out for:• Unfamiliar E-mails and
