Soldiers, Family, and Friends of the Wolverine Battalion; Tish and I want to take a minute and thank you for all that you do to make this Battalion a success every day. We are honored to serve in the 94th Engineer Battalion and we wake up every day thankful for each opportu- nity we have to interact with you. Do not think for a minute that either of us takes being a Command Team for granted...it is truly a privilege and we will do if forever if the Army lets us. It is hard to believe that I have been Wolverine 6 for 10 months already. Talk about time really flying by...I guess the old saying is true. I am amazed at how many great things Wolverine Soldiers and Families were involved in this past quarter. For everyone that participated in the numer- ous “Make A Difference Day” projects...a huge Thank You from me. Community support and volunteerism is a great way for everyone associated with this Battalion to make an impact on our local community. This community does a lot to support us; it is nice for a change to give them something back. Well done Wolverines! If you haven‟t seen pictures of what Wolverines accomplished while up in Fort Riley, you are really missing something pretty cool. The size and scope of the construction project we accomplished and the ranges that we executed are things I will remember for the rest of my life. All Wolverines should be understandably proud of our accomplishments! I will end my first entry into the Wolverzine by thanking some pretty spe- cial people. The FRG leaders in each company are some really amazing peo- ple and the amount of volunteer work they do for our Soldiers is awesome. Thank you for all the “behind the scenes” work that you do. It is hard to believe that I have been Wolverine 6 for 10 months already. Talk about time really flying by...I guess the old saying is true.

I am amazed at how many great

things Wolverine Soldiers and Families were involved in this past quarter. For

everyone that participated in the numer-ous “Make A Difference Day” projects...a huge Thank You from me. From the office of the 94th Engineer Battalion Command Sergeant Major

94th Engineer Battalion Family,

I hope everyone enjoyed your holidays. I am happy that everyone

returned safely. During this time of the year I can only reiterate

winter safety is a priority. The cold winter months are ahead

snow, ice and other hazards can be very dan-

gerous if we are not alert to them. A family

looks after each other; remind your battle

buddy to stay diligent as far as safety goes. As

the New Year begins let us continue to set stan-

dards in all we do! Wolverines!

Greetings to all Wolverine Soldiers and Family Members! I‟m

Chaplain Doug Ochner and have been with the 94th since Febru-

ary, 2007. I‟ve been married 12 years and have 4 children

(David, Annalisa, Jonathan and Isabella) under the ages of 9.

I‟m also a Missouri boy and actually like being here. If you need

ideas of where to go and what to see, give me a call. My number

is 573-433-1672. There‟s been a lot of movement in and out of

the Battalion, so I look forward to getting to know you if you‟re

relatively new.

Strong Bonds - Whenever I speak with Spouses and sometimes

with Soldiers I get asked, “When is the next Strong Bonds?” Well

I „m happy to say we should be able to take some Families for a

weekend of strengthening marriages in January 2010. A Single

Soldier weekend is also in the works for possibly February. If you

might be interested in going to an upcoming Strong Bonds re-

treat, attend an upcoming orientation meeting which will be an-

nounced.

From the 12th through the

14th of November the 103rd

En Co supported 4th MEB‟s

operation Vibrant Response

by hauling communications

equipment to Camp Atter-

bury Indiana. One way

travel for the trip took 12

hours. Although it was a

long and tiring trip, the

company was able to show

their usefulness by moving

the high dollar equipment

across the country with out

any damage.

October was a busy month

for the Vipers several mem-

bers of the 103rd volun-

teered to work on Make a

Difference Day. Our volun-

teer work was to work with

the St. Robert Fire Depart-

ment to make decorations

for the St. Robert Haunted

Hay Ride for Halloween. The

decorations will be around

for years to come. (Photos)

77th Engineer Company: ―Rock Steady‖

From September 15 through October 8, 2009, more than 100 Soldiers from the 77th Engineer Company labored hard to construct a 1800 linear meter Trench Warfare Training Complex in Fort Riley, Kansas in order to increase the training capabilities of the 1st Infantry Division.

Working in concert with the 2nd platoon, 103rd Engineer Company, the Outlaws vertically constructed a

trench complex that will be used for decades to come by the Soldiers of the Big Red One.

They used eight-foot railroad ties, 4x4s, 2x4s and plywood to build 13 bunkers designed to withstand M67 fragmentation grenade blasts as well as an intricate trench system that connected the bunkers.

All told, the Trench Warfare Training Complex that the company participated in saved the First Infantry Division and the United States Army more than $500,000 in labor and material costs.

In addition to the construction project at Fort Riley, each Outlaw Soldier was afforded the opportunity to train on both individual and collective tasks. They qualified on the M2 and M249 and conducted an Ad-

vanced Rifle Marksmanship Range with their assigned M16s as well as operating in convoy blank fire lanes and two IED Defeat Lanes.

Through the hard work and determination of the Soldiers and leaders in the company, the first off-post mission conducted by the 77th Engineer Company since uncasing their guidon in the Continental United States was a resounding success and set the standard for excellence across the battalion and further enhanced the image of the 4th MEB.

3rd Platoon, 232nd EN CO began a large scale construction mission for the 1st EN BDE the first week of November. The mission consists of clearing over 14

acres of woodland and the construction of a Tactical training base that will be used for 3 battalions within the Brigade. The mission is in the initial clearing stages and the Company‟s role in it should be complete in mid December. On

12 November, the 232nd hosted a change of command at Cunningham Gym. CPT Adam Aurelia handed over the company to CPT Cassandra McGinnis. CPT

McGinnis‟ previous two assignments were the S4 OIC for the 577th Eng Bn at Fort Leonard Wood as, and the S-3 Engineer Cell OIC in the 4TH Maneuver En-hancement Brigade. On 13 November, 2LTs Boston, Saik and Sullivan were

promoted to 1LT. The promotions were part of a battalion wide ceremony in which 11 Lieutenants were promoted. The ceremony was held at the Pershing

Club.

During the last quarter,

the Forward Support Company was instrumen-tal in all aspects of the

range density at Fort Ri-ley. We are called the for-

ward support for a rea-son. We are often the first Soldiers on the ground

and the last Soldiers to leave. The Fort Riley

Range Density and Con-struction Project proved to be no different. SGT

Crouch, a fueler, went forward to assist the S4

with account establish-ment. Shortly after, he was followed by the cooks

and the mechanics. SGT Smith and his Soldiers

(cooks), SPC Kelty, SPC Kennedy, and PFT Hibler, worked tirelessly in order

to turn a defective build-ing into a usable dining

facility.

While at Fort Riley every-one kept busy. The cooks

ran their own dining facil-ity for the first time since

their return from de-ployment.

The Distri-bution Pla-

toon was highly en-gaged in

fuel and ammunition

distribution missions for most of their time at Fort Riley. The Maintenance

Platoon kept employed by augmenting the other

companies‟ maintenance assets and ordering and tracking parts. The Head-

quarters Platoon worked as the Mayor Cell by

managing the training fa-cility. All the hard work and dedication paid off for

four FSC Sol-diers; SGT

Crouch, SPC Ken-nedy, SPC

Templeton, and PFC Blevins, each of which received

an Army Achieve-ment Medal.

The Company had to ensure that when the

line units arrived to Fort Riley they

could be fueled, feed, and

housed.

Forward Support Company “Renegades”

The FSC Soldiers proudly

supported the engineers we

serve with. CPT Welsh, 103rd

Company Commander, per-

sonally thanked them for

their professionalism and

enthusiasm. He stated that

the support Soldiers positive

attitudes and willingness to

assist made a difference in

the training environment.

it as a stepping stone. Close

the door on the past. You

don't try to forget the mis-

takes, but you don't dwell on

committee treated the volun-

was enjoyed by all. 1LT Cos-

of the event and SFC Street

directed all actions on ground

as the Noncommissioned offi-

the 83rd EN DET put in extra

done. We would like to thank

all of the Soldiers and spouses

that came to our Make a Dif-

ference Day event

On Saturday October 25 more

than 50 volunteer Soldiers and

family members from HHC,

FSC, and 232nd engineer Com-

pany from the 94th EN BN came

out to make big improvements

in the quality of life at Fort Leo-

nard Wood through their work

at the MWR Horse Stables.

Over the course of the day, the

volunteers constructed a storage

area inside the barn, made re-

pairs to an existing horse corral,

cleared brush and debris from

the area, and built a 300’ x 75’

barrel-race corral. In addition to

working hard, all participants

were given the opportunity to

ride horses and the horse stable
