INTRODUCTIONWhen we think of adhesive tape, we think of wrapping presents, sealing cardboard boxes or masking an area before we start decorating.
However tape can be used for a range of things, from creating art to bonding strong objects, adhesive tape comes in a range and shapes and has an infinite amount of functions.
But just like nearly everything, adhesive tape isn't made equal and by choosing the right one you could be saving yourself a big headache.
ACRYLIC TAPEThis is probably the more affordable of tapes, it's extremely versatile and widely used for general purposes.
Advantages Disadvantages• Extremely versatile• Affordable• Bond well to cardboard• Can be used for arts and crafts
• Snaps easily • Not suitable for heavy duty applications• It isn't heat or humidity resistant
VINYL TAPEThis is the best tape you can get. It is can used for nearly everything from sealing boxes to heavy duty DIY!
Advantages Disadvantages• Extremely versatile• Durable and strong• Very strong bond• Tamper proof• Heat & water resistant• Can be used for heavy duty applications• Can be used for masking before decorating
• A bit pricey, but if you want to get thejob done, vinyl tape all the way!!
GUMMED PAPER TAPEIf you work with packages, these guys are probably your best friends, as they have an amazing cardboard to tape bond.
Advantages• Very good paper to tape bond• Heat resistant • Tamper proof• Tidy & Professional
Disadvantages• Not really suitable for bonding material
such as iron or metal
MASKING TAPEIf you have ever decorated you probably know all everything you need to know about masking tape.
Advantages
• Perfect for painting and decorating• Leaves clean lines• Cheaper then other similar tapes
Disadvantages• Can leave a sticky trail behind
which is hard to clean
