When you think about it, we are all subconsciouslyprogrammed to be extroverts in life, because theseskills are related to success, fame and money all ofwhich would supposedly direct us to lead a comfortablelife. Our parents, teachers, guides, mentors, coachesand almost everyone around us is always programmingus in that manner.

This is not evident to a person who has a naturalinclination towards those traits, and because of thatthey pick up on them very quickly. I am going to talkabout the other half which finds it very hard tounderstand them in the first place, following them is adifferent ball game altogether.

I do not wish to downplay the extroverts here, theyhave an excellent personality but so do Introverts.

People have a very common perception that Introverts and most of them are false. Some ofthem I have listed below;

1. They are shy.

2. Introverts hate being around people.

3. Introverts cannot be good leaders.

4. They are bad team players.

5. Introverts talk less.

6. Introverts are always more creative andintellectual.

7. They are terrified of public speaking.

8. They are less happier as compared to extroverts.

The list goes on and on..

My Views:

It is a fact proved by psychology that there are manypersonality types present and this fact is independentof the person being an introvert or an extrovert. Dr. Jung had created 16 types of personality towhich an individual can belong to, you can test yourself here.

On a general basis, Introverts have an extensive thinking capability and they tend to analyzethe everyday activities a lot. This makes them excellent observers and subsequent decision

makers. Since they pay more attention to gathering more information, they are much moreequipped to take well-informed decisions.

They value one on one conversations more, this allows them to nurture long-termrelationships. Since they tend to observe, it is easier for them to understand the underlyingtone of the person in front of them. This has a direct co-relation on their reply, which is tailoredto fit the situation. They are able to gauge what the person is asking for whether it issympathy, empathy, a solution or just a listening ear. Some one might feel that this would takeup a lot of mind-space of a person, but in the case of introverts they actually love to do thisbecause it fuels their own need to have a meaningful conversation.

“Introverts, in contrast, may have strong social skills and enjoyparties and business meetings, but after a while wish they werehome in their pajamas. They prefer to devote their socialenergies to close friends, colleagues, and family. They listenmore than they talk, think before they speak, and often feel as ifthey express themselves better in writing than in conversation. They tend to dislike conflict. Many have a horror of small talk, butenjoy deep discussions.” Susan Cain

Most Introverts are extremely independent people, since they do not desire or crave the socialbonding or attention (they do not despise it either). The availability or unavailability of thepresence of other people is irrelevant to an introvert because most of the time they areimmersed in their own thoughts. However, just like any other individual they do desire a goodcompany. But it is not a necessity.

Retrospection, which is believed to be a very good quality to possess comes easily to them.Being self-reflective allows them to correct their mistakes and this nature is extended to thework they do.

The point which I am trying to make is that all individuals possess particular skills which makethem unique and the people should not be divided into categories. The stereotypes whichsurround introverts should be removed to look beyond them, into the person concerned.

Irrespective of being an extrovert or an introvert, you can attain whatever you wish in your life.

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into yourown heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes” C.G. Jung
