DEFINITION OF SENTIMENTAL COMEDY:-(17JENUARY,1775)

“someone or something that is sentimental feel or shows pity or love sometimes to an extent that is considered exaggerated”.

Sentimental means relating to or involving feeling such as pity or love especially for things in past .

Sentimental comedy a kind of comedy , that achieved some popularity with respectable middleclass audiences in the 18th century.

DEFINITION OF ANTI-SENTIMENTAL COMEDY:- The anti-sentimental comedy means deals

with the relations and women living in a sophisticated upper class society.

The manner in which the other character have been portrayed is also evidence of the Anti-sentimental character of the play.

The emphasis is on the importance and primacy of morality, virtue and manner.
