Camera• Camera: A medium shot were used to show both men reaction after finding his son drawing of

him on a wall. • Lighting: When looking back and comparing the lighting from the beginning and the ending, I

would say that the beginning has high key lighting as it’s has soft bright light, this was used to show their happy mood when they were spending time together on a holiday. But in the ending the lighting is a low key because the parents has lost their son, so this were used to represents their mood.

• Editing: Cross cuts are used to show the flashbacks between Tony and his wife with Olly before he went missing cutting to the present day where Tony is shown searching for his lost son. The effect of this particular editing technique adds intrigue to the storyline as small clues are given to the viewer about the whereabouts of Olly. It also shows how time has moved on and how Tony is still a lost soul compared to his wife who has moved on with another partner.

Technical• Sound: Non diegetic sound were used to heighten the tension and make it more

emotional for the audience, a slow sad music would be an example of this. Another example is when he looks out the window in the pub alone, a diegetic sound of rains were used to show what type of mood he’s in, the sound of rains is a significance of a sad mood.

• Editing: Fast paced editing were used in one of the scene when the French women was talking to the expert about the boy, but the father was paranoid and kept asking him what she was saying, so the fast pace editing was used in this bit to constantly show him looking at him whilst she was talking to him, this shows that he is paranoid and worried but with hopes.
