A period of extreme cooling after the medieval warm period.

Religious figures in the 17th century believed the glaciers were possessed by the devil and tried using prayer to stop the ice age.

Cooler temperatures and severe winters were seen between the years1150 -1460.

Between the years 1650 – 1850 A.D. extremely cold temperatures were reported in at least three ice ages, divided by slightly warmer periods.

When Did the Little Ice age Occur?

Colder temperatures changed crop cycles and in turn created famine when crops were scarce.

Famine related diseases cleaned out civilizations.

Violence and crime rated skyrocketed.
