It was an important day in the animal kingdom.

Page 6: The Lion King

All the animals had gathered at Pride Rock to catch the first glimpse of

the newborn prince Simba – the cub of King Mufasa

and Queen Sarabi.

Page 7: The Lion King

The wise baboon, Rafiki stood on Pride Rock and held him

up for all to see.

Page 8: The Lion King

Later, King Mufasa, confronted his brother Scar

for not attending the celebration. “ Oh, I feel

awful.” lied Scar.

Page 9: The Lion King

“I was next in line for the throne till Simba was born,”

he mumbled bitterly.

Page 10: The Lion King

“What am I going to do with him?” said Mufasa under his

breath.

Page 11: The Lion King

One morning King Mufasa pointed the Pride Lands and said, look at the rays of the sun, Simba. Everything the

light touches is my Kingdom. One day it will be yours.”

Page 12: The Lion King

But far to Simba’s left, the land was hazy and dark.

Page 13: The Lion King

“What about that shadowy place?” he asked.

Page 14: The Lion King

That’s beyond our borders. You must never go there, my

son,” replied Mufasa.

Page 15: The Lion King

Simba tried not to be disappointed. “I thought a king could go anywhere he

wants,” he said.

Page 16: The Lion King

Near pride Rock, he came across Scar. “Uncle Scar! Guess What?” he cried.

Page 17: The Lion King

“I am going to be the King of Pride Rock. My dad showed

me the whole kingdom!”

Page 18: The Lion King

“Oh? Did he show you what’s beyond the northern border?”

demanded Scar. “He said I can’t go there,” said Simba.

Page 19: The Lion King

“of course. Only the bravest lions can go there,” said Scar. “I’m brave. Tell me what’s out

there,” pleaded Simba.

Page 20: The Lion King

“An elephant graveyard,” said Scar, Scar grinned slyly as

Simba and his friend, Nala the lioness ran to the forbidden place with Zazu the hornbill.

Page 21: The Lion King

They had walked a long way into a territory where there

were no trees.

Page 22: The Lion King

Suddenly Simba saw an enormous elephant skull. He

was delighted.

Page 23: The Lion King

“This is the elephant graveyard!” he cried. He was

about to climb inside when three hyenas jumped out of

the skull.

Page 24: The Lion King

They were foul-smelling and filthy. They circled their victims slowly, ready to

attack.

Page 25: The Lion King

Simba felt his heart beating wildly as he and Nala ran from

the hyenas.

Page 26: The Lion King

Any minute now they would catch up with them! He took a deep breath and kept running,

when suddenly…

Page 27: The Lion King

“ROAAARRRR!”

Page 28: The Lion King

The hyenas spun around and looked into the furious eyes

of a huge lion.

Page 29: The Lion King

“It’s King Musafa! Quick, let’s get out of here!” gasped one

of them.

Page 30: The Lion King

Musafa roared again, and the hyenas fled howling into the

mist.

Page 31: The Lion King

“I was just trying to be brave like you,” Simba tried to

explain. “I’m only brave when I have to be,”Mufasa said

gently.

Page 32: The Lion King

Then he looked up the sky. He said, “The great kings of

the past look down on us from these stars.

Page 33: The Lion King

They’ll always be there to guide you – and so will I.”

Page 34: The Lion King

The next morning, Scar met Simba. “Wait here in the

gorge,” Scar said.

Page 35: The Lion King

Then Scar started a stampede of wildebeests to get rid of

Simba.

Page 36: The Lion King

But in his hurry to escape, Simba fell. Just then Mufasa grabbed his son in his mouth

and rushed him towards safety.

Page 37: The Lion King

But a wildebeest knocked Mufasa from the ledge.

Injured, he managed to cling to a rock.

Page 38: The Lion King

He looked up and saw Scar above him. Scar dug his claws into Mufasa’s front

legs.

Page 39: The Lion King

Then, with a deadly push, he sent Mufasa down to his

death. Mufasa slid down and was still.

Page 40: The Lion King

Simba ran down to his father and sobbing loudly, buried

his face in his father’s mane.

Page 41: The Lion King

“Simba, what have you done?” demanded Scar.

Page 42: The Lion King

“It was an accident,” wailed Simba, “He came to save me,”

Page 43: The Lion King

Scar shook his head, “If it weren’t for you, the king

would be alive, Run away and don’t ever return here,” he

said.

Page 44: The Lion King

With sadness in his heart, Simba ran down the length of

the gorge.

Page 45: The Lion King

Meanwhile Scar readied himself to assume the title of

the king.

Page 46: The Lion King

Simba ran till his legs couldn’t carry him anymore.

Exhausted he fainted.

Page 47: The Lion King

Just then, a fat warthog Pumbaa and a skinny meerkat Timon saw Simba and helped

him.

Page 48: The Lion King

Pumba asked Simba to stay with them for a while and he

willingly accepted.

Page 49: The Lion King

Years passed, Simba now had a great mane around his head

and shoulders.

Page 50: The Lion King

One day, Simba met a lioness who jumped on him just like

Nala used to.

Page 51: The Lion King

She looked very familiar. “Nala?” he asked.

Page 52: The Lion King

“Simba” Nala replied. Why did Scar tell us that you were

dead?”

[email protected]

Page 53: The Lion King

Nala said that Scar was king and he let the hyenas do what

they wanted.

Page 54: The Lion King

“Simba, with you alive, Scar has no right to the throne,”

said Nala.

Page 55: The Lion King

But Simba refused. Nala looked away. She couldn’t believe Mufasa’s son would

turn back on the pride.

Page 56: The Lion King

That night he met Rafiki the baboon. “Look up there,”

Rafiki murmered.

Page 57: The Lion King

In the sky Simba could see a shadow of a lion with a mane.

Page 58: The Lion King

“Dad?” asked Simba.

Page 59: The Lion King

“You see, he is watching over you,” whispered Rafiki as he

disappeared into the dark night.

Page 60: The Lion King

The next day, Simba returned to Pride Rock which had been

struck by draught.

Page 61: The Lion King

He saw his mother, Queen Sarabi being ordered by Scar.

Page 62: The Lion King

“Step down or fight, Scar he yelled. Why don’t you tell everyone here who killed

Mufasa,”

Page 63: The Lion King

Scar roared, Sorrow flooded Simba’s heart.

Page 64: The Lion King

Simba backed away in horror and his hind legs slipped off

the cliff.

Page 65: The Lion King

“Scar went to the edge and said”

Page 66: The Lion King

“This is how Mufasa looked before I killed him.”

Page 67: The Lion King

“Murderer!” cried Simba as he lunged at Scar’s throat.

“Tell everyone what you just said,”

Page 68: The Lion King

“I killed Mufasa,” Scar yelled.

Page 69: The Lion King

With ear piercing battle cries, the lioness chased the

hyenas away.

Page 70: The Lion King

“Please don’t hurt me,” pleaded Scar.

Page 71: The Lion King

“I am your family.”

Page 72: The Lion King

Simba paused to consider his uncle’s plea. “Run away then,

and never show your face again,” said Simba.

Page 73: The Lion King

Scar pretended to leave, “Y-yes your Majesty.” Then,

snarling, he spun around and struck Simba.

Page 74: The Lion King

Simba moved quickly. “You’ve lost your chance!” he

roared as he heaved Scar over the edge.

Page 75: The Lion King

The Pride Lands came back to life. One bright dawn, all the

animals once again journeyed to the foot of the Pride Rock.

Page 76: The Lion King

On top of Pride Rock, Rafiki raised a cub – the daughter of

the King Simba and Queen Nala – high in the air.

Page 77: The Lion King

She would be the future Queen of the Pride Lands.
