In a new series for BBC Two, presented by Michael Wood (below), The Great British Story looks at history through the eyes of ordinary people. Rulers and royals, lords and ladies have all had their say down the centuries, but what were the last 1,600 years like for everyday Britons? Many of their stories have been lost in time but, with the help of our experts, The Great British Story has reclaimed voices from the past.

Now it’s your chance to get involved! Come along to our BBC and partner-led events and discover YOUR place in history. Look out for The Great British Story all over the UK in spring/summer 2012 and learn how to delve into your past.
