Chapter 7:

Catching Up

Page 2: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Three years later…

College is nearly over for the kids of generation 2, the Geology family

has been through a lot in the last three years, one event of note was

the passing of the family matriarch and founder, Geodessa…

Page 3: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

At the age of 80, Geodessa

Geology left for greener pastures,

leaving behind three kids, seven

grandchildren, and a lot of dear

friends…she will be missed

greatly.

Page 4: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Rhode finally got to meet aliens, and it was not entirely what he had

expected it to be. The family’s heiress Ruby was worried for the sake of her

brother’s sanity.

Page 5: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Ruby: I hope my other papa wasn‟t too mean to brother… *worry hands*

Page 6: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Ruby: Hey, weren‟t you the same guy who was mean to my grandmother?

Orion: Who was she again? Oh right, the purple freak…

Ruby: Yep, same guy.

Jon Smith: Honey, is this guy bothering you?

Ruby: No, I just feel sorry for him, stuck in his rage and anger. And for so long too.

Orion: ….shut up!! I am not pathetic!!

Page 7: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Ruby: Jon, I thought you liked art.

Jon Smith: This modern slop is not art, in my day they made true art…

Ruby: In your day?

Jon Smith: Never mind dearest…

Page 8: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Ruby: I don‟t know, I like it…orangey, but nice.

Jon Smith: Where are you Ruby?

Ruby: Over here!

Maybe coming to the art museum wasn’t the best idea for a date after all. Jon

seems to hate it.

Page 9: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Jon was a nice guy, he was never unkind to her. He can be a little stand-offish at

times but maybe because it’s from all that his family went through. The Tricous

have a long and detailed history around these parts after all. Her aunt married one

of the Tricou boys and she seems happy, Obsidian introduced her to Jon Smith

and Ruby knew her aunt would never do anything to hurt her.

Page 10: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Ruby loved Jon and he loved her, so why not have him help her bring in the

final generation of her family? All of her aunts and her father found good

matches, Ruby wanted the same.

Page 11: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Ruby: Heehee, my finance. That sounds so cool.

Jon Smith: Same here, it‟s been a long time since my first wife died and I don‟t

want to be alone.

Page 12: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Back on campus…

Ruby: Whee!! I did the xylophone trick!! And I‟m getting married!! Yay!! I‟m

going to be a great heiress for daddy!!

Page 13: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Ruby’s siblings, all now in their Junior year, found their triple-bolt spouses. Pen

here found that his triple-bolter was none other than the Dance Studio owner

Noelle Dennis.

Page 14: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

For Bad Apple Limonite, it was Stephen Willkie, the local exterminator. She

could put up with the bug-gut stained uniform if it meant she got to have her

triple-bolter husband.

Page 15: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

For Rhode, it was the local Good Witch lieutenant. She had graced him with

White magic not too long after their first date and as a Knowledge seeker, it was

a whole new experience for Rhode.

Page 16: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Even their placeholder, Skylar found his triple-bolter with Tish Dallas. A former

teen townie who was allowed to go to college due to being one of the ones

selected for the Townie Teen college lottery.

Page 17: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

One day, a freak thunderstorm set one of their backyard palm trees on fire. And

before the rain could put it out, it stopped and it was up to Pen and his quick-draw

fire extinguisher to put out the damage.

Ruby: Oh no!! Save daddy‟s college house big brother!! I can‟t let it burn down!!

Pen: Working on it!!

Back in Belladonna Cove…

The family’s grief deepened with the loss of Metrion, she had been with them

since before Olivenite was born. But she was an old cat, she lived to be 35 days

old. She never even got to explore the new house…

“I resent being called old!! I am distinguished!!”

Sorry.

Page 19: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Olivenite had decided to move the family homestead one last time before Ruby

came home from college, this house would last for the rest of the challenge and it

had lots of room for future grandkids to play in. In the welcome wagon, he had

come out to meet some rather unusual people.

Page 20: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Malachite: I am honoured to meet the son of my Mistress Geodessa. We had not had the

opportunity before.

Olivenite: Mistress?

Malachite: Forgive me, we are old friends of your mother‟s. I would have thought your

sisters would have told you about us before now.

Olivenite: Nope, „fraid not. My sisters keep themselves a lot.

Page 21: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Malachite: Forgive my boldness, but might we be able to speak to your mother?

It is rather urgent.

Olivenite: No one told you? My mother died some time ago. I‟m in charge of the

house until my daughter returns to take the reigns as my heiress.

Malachite: She has passed?

Olivenite: I thought you knew, being that you‟re old friends of hers and all..

Page 22: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Malachite: I did not know…

Olivenite: Is there something I can do for you?

Malachite: I am afraid not, it was matter that needed to be discussed with my Mistress.

Olivenite: Nothing illegal I hope…

Malachite: Oh…gods no. I did not mean to imply…forgive me.

Page 23: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Malachite: We are doomed…with no Diviner our world will perish!

Vanadinite: Maybe not, perhaps his child might be able to help us, she might

have inherited our Mistress‟s gift. I do not sense her power in him now.

Malachite: If Black Star finds out she has passed…he will seek us out

Vanadinite.

Vanadinite: I know Mal, I know.

Page 24: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Belladonna Cove had grown since the Geology family settled here. Olivenite

moved their house to right in front of the lake, providing a perfect backdrop for

his family’s mansion.

Page 25: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Back at the Cordial House, Malachite was still reeling from the shock of learning

that his Mistress died; she never even knew they had come after her and have

been looking for her this whole time. It seems her children and grandchildren had

not inherited her Diviner’s gift; they could not go back to their dimension without a

Diviner and the local deities were not being very helpful with their predicament

either.

Page 26: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Vanadinite managed a small smile; it was an attempt to lighten Mal’s mood but

instead it was only masking her own pain.

“We‟ll find a way to save our world Malachite, we just have to have faith.”

Malachite: Forgive me if I cannot be as optimistic as you Vana my dear. I am not

strong enough to handle the mantle of Diviner myself and Black Star is still out

there.

Vanadinite: I was just trying to help…

Page 27: The Geology OWBC: Chapter 7

Malachite: We can hope that one of the children will have a child who will inherit

all of our Mistress‟s power and we can save our world…

I know it was a short chapter, but after putting this off for nearly four months due

to being sucked into my RKC, my Alphabetacy, and my legacy, this one suffered

the most I think. I will get to planning out the final generation of the OWBC soon,

with Geodessa gone, Black Star still biding his time and the mysterious

circumstances surrounding the father of the next generation, Jon Smith Tricou,

who knows what will be in store for generation 3. Does Jon Smith have his own

hidden agenda for marrying Ruby and the money her family will provide him? Or

does he truly love her? Could it all just be a misunderstanding? Find out next time

on the Geology OWBC!!
