Extract Analysis

This shot is a pedestal shot. It follows the man as he moves from a standing position down to a kneeling position. This lets the audience keep eye contact with the man and follow his actions carefully. The lighting is bright as they are outside however the shadows hint at the shady behaviour of the man.

This shot is a zoom shot. It zooms into the action, following Maud’s hand moving down the girl’s body. It draws our attention to Maud’s hand in a sexual and dramatic way. The lighting is soft and dark as it is probably night time in the shot.

This shot is a track shot. It follows the man as he approaches Maud. It creates suspense in a way and sparks the viewers curiosity to see what he is looking at so suspiciously. The mans face isn't fully shown in this shot. This may be to hide his facial expression. The music score at his point intensifies as he realises that Maud loves the finger smith signifying a plot twist and that things are about to get significantly more complicated.

This shot is an shot. It tracks around Maud as she reads books that have suddenly become more interesting. It creates a sense of revelation which is supported by her facial expression. The shot gradually zooms in as it arcs, further emphasising her facial code. This draws the audience in to the room and helps us feel the revelations she is feeling.

This is a transition between two different shots. Throughout the clip these slow fades are used. They are soft and quite feminine and romantic which ties in with the theme of the clip and ties it all together.
