Farm Life
Farm life in the Great Plains was good in the
early 1900s. The Great Plains included
the states of Oklahoma, Texas,
Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico.
The Great Plains had a drought in the 1930s. There was very no rain, the soil was not good and the winds were very strong.
Farmers raised livestock in the Great Plains until
the need for grain came, because of World War I. The farmers would make a lot more money raising
grain.
The government realized the Great Plains had a serious problem. The Soil Conservation Service was set-
up. Through it acts and relief efforts were created to help
farmers affected by the Dust Bowl disaster.
