The Deliverance of the Dancing Bearsby Elizabeth Stauley
Retold and Re-illustrated by Grade 1JG
There was once a large brown bear who dreamed of a different life.
She imagined she was at the river with her partner fishing for fish.
She thought of her babies and playing with them.
She was really in a cage.
Her dreams got disturbed by Haluk.Haluk was furious and mean.
He bullied her by forcing her to dance at the Market square.
Yusef, an old man, gave lots of money to Haluk to buy the bear.He also dreamed that the bear was free.
Yusef took the bear to his cottage in the woods.
The bear felt frightened when the man tried to pet her.
Yusef took her down to the river. Then she felt comfortable.
Yusef came to the market again.Haluk was hitting a baby bear and making him dance.
Yusef bought the baby bear.
He brought the cub back to the cottage.
The mother and cub lived free like she dreamed in the forest.
