YALTA The Black Sea resort of Yalta is one of the most beautiful Crimean towns. It is located on the southern coast of the Crimean peninsula. It is very popular among the tourists.

Yalta is like a precious pearl on the sea coast between the mountains and the sea. The local air enriched with sea salts and pine scent is famous for its curative eff ect. The Mediterranean climate contributed to the development of numerous health resorts that appeared here in the 19th century.

Being founded by the ancient Greek sailors, Yalta turned from a tiny fi shing village into a fashionable resort thanks to the Russian tsars of the Romanovs who chose this area as their summer residence site.

Also Yalta was very popular among the famous writers, poets and artists .

Sea Promenade Yalta's Sea Promenade is the main street of Yalta and a nice walking area.

150 years ago a post road from Sevastopol to Yalta was built. A ‘place Yalta’ originated from Polikurovskiy Hill. After that along the post road the houses appeared. The road received its name ‘The Post Street’, and in the second half of XIX century it was named Aleksandrovskyi Road. It was a narrow and noisy street.

In the Soviet time it was named The Lenin’s Embankment. It was planted with plants and palm trees. When it was closed for cars, it became a wide boulevard.

Now the street is wide and beautiful and it is a very popular place among the residents of the city and tourists.

It is the site of several hotels, restaurants, cafes. There is a movie theater, a concert hall, a drama theatre, some museums, fountains and monuments.

LIVADIA PALACE Livadia Palace, the summer

residence of the last Russian Czar Nicholas II and his family.

The Palace was designed by the Russian architect N.Krasnov in the early Italian Renaissance style and

completed during 17 months in 1911.

During Yalta Conference in February days 1945 Livadia Palace

became the meeting place of the ‘BIG THREE’: Roosevelt, Stalin and

Churchill.

If you want to touch the history, you should visit the White Hall where the historic plenary meetings were held and the rooms used by the Head of

the American delegation F.D.Roosevelt who stayed here as

well.

Don't forget to look at the Italian patio, a small inner courtyard, where the historic photo of the ‘Big Three’

AU-DAG OR BEAR MOUNTAIN

Au-Dag is the name of a mountain that is translated from the Turk language as a Saint Mountain.

According to an old legend, a giant bear who lived here, became a stone, trying to drink the sea and to stop fugitives.

On the bear's back there is a real forest where you can loose. Narrow paths go to its summit, where a magnificent view opens to your eyes.

The mountain really looks like a big bear sleeping on the shore or sipping water from the sea.
