What do they intend to

pursue?

Who Are they?An avant-garde synthpop group formed in 1983 by engineer/producer Gary Langan, programmer

J. J. Jeczalik, along with arranger Anne Dudley, producer Trevor Horn and music journalist Paul

Morley. The group's mostly focus in music concretes aspects of instrumental compositions as they were

novel melodic sound collages based on digital sampler technology, which was new at the time but now in our day of age is not, but from taking their examples might be able to take a concepts

in present / 20th century.

In the overall outlook upon this band they are versatile. They have different backgrounds of music styles. However, I can imagine they digitally focus upon their style as an whole. They all have the generic links and intentions to form this successful and professional band i.e. Acoustical melodies, harmonies etc. So focusing upon their role; I need to have a open outlook upon my track which I’m going to produce. And that the outcome should focus on a performance based aspect such as this band e.g the timbre and meaning is layered to perfection and that my intentions are realisable to others. I can also see that they used instruments which blended in certain elements in music, but transferred it into the style of music concretes sounds; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIcmIhOesaI This video demonstrates a structure of four layered sounds /beats, also with added music concrete sounds. Relating to Luigi’s technique, noises are obtained by hitting something, the sudden ting of a glass being tapped is heard in the video and blends the layers and colleges into one elemental sound. The sound of the glass is then looped (morphophonemic) through the whole song covering the bpm (beat per minute) which creates more a band performance. To add definitions to the vocal reverbs of echoes are used for more meaningful phrases of genre to the song and face to towards the style and by the use of music concrete. I think it has made it more effective in the timbre and this, I predict, is their style.

Again reverting from the song “moments in love” and listening from it I can identify that it has a

80’s vibe as synth is used creating and was mostly popular in that time bases. But it feels like its

a different trend as the sound is transient and abstract. I feel that another sound is placed in

Luigis style which tranquillities the meaning of the overall story. I could focus upon the style of the 80’s but translate it into everyday artefacts of the 20th century.

To my knowledge this could be presented into a melodic structure, that the reduced listener is

reacting to the environment and atmosphere throughout every verse of layering and mortaring

and not just the style. This has inspired me to focus upon the futurist aspects i.e. everyday

sounds but can combine it into a generation of style. I could now look into sources which could

be constructed and progressive towards the format through the required software / EXS-24 and

that then certain sound portrays to the story that its individual persona is successful in the

aspects of concrete or contemporary elements in a professional structured outcome.

Their style, to my project understanding

This has Inspired into focusing upon the turn-of-the-21st-century of revolutions in music. The

Art of Noise were initially packaged as a faceless anti- or non-group, which gives a blurring to

the distinction between the art and its creators. The band is noted for innovative use of

electronics and computers in pop music and particularly for innovative use of sampling. I

however don’t. If I was to make a track in the format of theirs I would be inspirited into the 80’s

synth. I want to focus upon the sound looping and it being layered and enveloped in the music

concrete aspects. What I could also do is delay and slow down or speed up my track in certain

verses making it more tense and complex. But will it work into the arrangement and present a

understanding in a typical found sound / percussion set due as it the speed/ bmp needs to link

in with it being a college and built progress of timbre?

What I’ve learnt towards my project?

I’ve learnt that when it comes to building a track it is more constructive and time consuming. I need to have a set plan from start to finish in a layered and perfect perceptive of my own ability. I have also found out various types of techniques which I can use in terms of microphone placement, does it need to be formatted in a consistence place or spontaneous as I aiming more towards the sound of the 21st century. I think I could benefit the placement being a source of wide activity and movement of life outdoors, and indoors in modernistic characteristics . These sounds should be layered and looped to perfection in bmp. Meaning that they must link which each other, blend, and harmonise which tells the story in the best possible and entertaining way for the reduced listener / audience. Most of all I need to come up with a style, will my track be successful if it’s continuous or have generic links. Widely looking upon, that if I had a wide fan base such as art of noise, would they realise the source of style of my sound and would look forward for another?
