Dynamism?
I would give Ellen a 4/5 for dynamism. She was clearly passionate and excited about the material.
It would have been nice if she slowed down just a little bit and utilized her PowerPoint more. I feel showing some images of the starving population would have helped make a more visual impact.
Dynamism?
Show us something so we won’t forget you
Were tips taken from Garr Reynolds?
Garr Reynolds Verbally - Ellen Started strong and showed her passion
throughout the delivery Visually - Graphics were high quality, Text was bulleted and
limited
Were tips taken from Nancy Duarte?
Nancy Duarte
Like Nancy, Ellen truly believes that she has the power to change
the world and I believe she got that message across in this speech
She included stories in her presentation
What have I learned?
To be prepared (No cheat sheet)
To be energetic
To speak and look directly at my audience
To speak clear but not too fast
To include props or visual presentations when
speaking
Sir Ken Robinson vs Ellen Gustafson
Sir Ken Robinson
Spoke slowly and clearly Used a lot of comedy Kept an even keeled energy level Used advanced visual assistanceCame across as old school Excellent speaker. Very experienced and professional while still entertaining.
Ellen Gustafson
Spoke clearly, but very quickly Did not really use any comedy Was always on “high” Used very basic visual assistance Brought a young fresh view Great speaker but did not seem
nearly as experienced as Robinson.
Tips for my classmates
Keep energy level high
Make eye contact
Get up! Don’t present your speech while sitting at the
computer. Stand up so you can use body language.
Use visual aids when possible
Know your speech (don’t read off a script)
Enjoy yourself and the audience will most likely
enjoy your presentation.
