The Mac is also where my work is saved. The Mac was used to create my magazine using Photoshop. I also used it to document my progress on my blog and I used it when doing my research and planning. A problem I found when using the Mac was when I was trying to do lots of things at once it was slow. I also found that when saving my work I had to make sure to save it to my documents rather than the desktop because it was a problem accessing my work outside of the classroom. I started saving my work onto my USB therefore I could access it on other Macs outside of the classroom. When the Mac was being slow I closed of the things I was not using and this sped it up more. I have learned how to use the Mac properly and how to use the software on the macs. Mac The Mac has the software needed to create my magazine and it also allows me to document my work on Blogger and use other software such as Word, Indesign and Powerpoint. The Mac is also where my work is saved.

The Mac was used to create my magazine using Photoshop. I also used it to document my progress on my blog and I used it when doing my research and planning.

A problem I found when using the Mac was when I was trying to do lots of things at once it was slow. I also found that when saving my work I had to make sure to save it to my documents rather than the desktop because it was a problem accessing my work outside of the classroom.

I started saving my work onto my USB therefore I could access it on other Macs outside of the classroom. When the Mac was being slow I closed of the things I was not using and this sped it up more.

I have learned how to use the Mac properly and how to use the software on the macs.

DSLR camera – Canon 1000D

The camera takes the photos and you can change the brightness depending on the genre and how you want the image to look. You can also put the flash on the camera to brighten it up. The memory card in the camera stores the photos and then you can upload

I used the camera to take the photos of my models for my magazine. I used the flash on the camera to make the photos brighter. I used the camera on a tripod so it was steady and therefore the photo wasn’t blurry. I also used the camera to take test shots

I found the camera hard to focus because when I thought it was focused it wasn’t and therefore I had to retake the photos which took up more time. Also when the model moved I had to re-focus the camera.

My peers helped me to focus the camera and the models had to stay still when we were taking the photos.

I have learned how to use the focus and zoom on the camera properly.

I found it hard to use Photoshop at first because there are lots of different tools for different things so it was just getting used to them.

I have learned how to use Photoshop and how to edit photos. I have also learned what each of the different tools are for.

IndesignBlogger Keeps a

document of all the things you put on there and it can be used to track your progress.

I used Blogger to document all of my research and planning and my evaluation. From doing this I can see my progress.

Making sure I updated my blogger all the time was a struggle.

I made sure I posted on my blog every time I made a change to my magazine.

I have learned how to schedule posts and how to upload links and videos to my blog.

PowerPoint Powerpoint is used to create different slides of information so you can make a presentation.

I used Powerpoint when doing my equipment post and also as part of my evaluation.

I didn’t face any problems using powerpoint.

No problems that needed solutions.

How to upload a powerpoint to my blog and how to use it effectively.

Survey Monkey

You can create surveys that you can distribute to people.

I used this to gain audience research and feedback by creating surveys.

Getting people to actually answer my questions so I could use the responses as part of my research.

I posted the link on social media and asked people to answer it for me.

I learned how to create a survey using survey monkey and how to create the questions and different ways of responding to them.

Lighting Allows you to get the right lighting for the image so it fits with genre you are doing.

I used the lighting to get high key lighting for my photos because I needed the images to be bright so it fitted with the genre of my magazine.

Getting the lights in the right position because sometimes there was a shadow. Sometimes the lighting was to yellow which was a problem and also sometimes it was to dark which I didn’t want.

I used the flash on the camera when the lighting was too dark. I also used to lights either side of the model so reduce the shadow.

How to set up the lights in the studio and how to position the lights to reduce the shadow.

iShowu Ishowu allows you to talk about what you are showing on the screen. It does this in a form of a video with a voiceover.

I used ishowu as part of my evaluation where I show what different technologies I used when creating my magazine such as photoshop and the different websites. The examiner can then see how I created my magazine.

I had never used ishowu before so it took a bit of getting used to and also it was hard to record with the noise in the room.

When recording I went into a quite place so the noise wasn’t so loud. I watched a tutorial on how to use ishowu so I could learn how to use it.

I have learned how to use ishowu and how to record my voice and record the screen at the same time.

iPhoto or image capture

Image Capture allows you to save the images on your screen to your desktop.

Prezi Prezi allows you to create slides similar to powerpoint and you can add images and text. This is an online platform.

I used Prezi as part of my evaluation and also for my target audience post.

I have never used Prezi before so it took me a bit of time to learn how to use it.

I took the time to learn how to use it and I asked if I wasn’t too sure.

I learned how to use Prezi and how to upload it to my blog.

Social media It allows you to keep in touch with the outside world and it allows you to share things with others.

I used social media to gather research and audience feedback. I used Facebook to see what people thought of my work.

I couldn’t log on to Facebook at college to screen grab the responses.

I had to screen grab them at home on my phone and upload them to the Mac.

I learned that social media is a good way of gaining audience feedback ad research.

Excel/Word Word is used to create documents such as essays.

I used word to fill in the details on some of the research posts such as location recce and risk assessment. I also used word as part of my evaluation.

No problems No solutions because I had no problems.

I learned how to upload a word document to my blog.
