WHAT IF…

Imagine that you are in charge of running your assigned mission. You have a friend who is interested in learning more about the 21 California Missions. They would like to visit a mission, but can’t decide which one to visit. Create an informational brochure that will convince your friend that your mission is the one they should visit.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In this project, you will do the following: Research your assigned mission using the

internet and the books we have checked out from the library

Fill out a mission fact sheet Use the fact sheet to write a 3 paragraph

research essay on your mission Create a Mission Brochure to share

information about your mission with others

TIMELINE Day 1: Using the CA Mission Website, find your

mission, and look for helpful information to include on your Mission Fact Sheet

Day 2: Finish your Mission Fact Sheet using the books we checked out from the library

Day 3: Using the information from your Mission Fact Sheet, organize your information onto the Mission Graphic Organizer

Day 4: Using your Graphic Organizer, type a 3 paragraph essay about your mission using your AlphaSmart.

Day 5: Finish typing your essay on your AlphaSmart

TIMELINE CONTINUED

• Day 6: While in the Computer Lab, upload your Mission Report from your AlphaSmart to your student computer and spell check and edit your rough draft

• Day 7: Fix any corrections Miss Hughes has made on your Rough Draft, and print out a Final Draft of your Mission Report

• Day 8: 1.Copy and Paste your Report from

Microsoft Word to Apple Works. 2. Go back to the Mission Website to

look for pictures of your Mission to Copy and Paste into AppleWorks

• Day 9: 1. Open your Brochure in AppleWorks2. In a separate column from your

pictures and report, draw the layout of your mission•Day 10: Create another column in your brochure for the Front Cover. On the Cover include a picture of the front of your mission and its name and address•Day 11: Edit your brochure and print it out

GRADING

You will be graded on your Mission Report and your Mission Brochure.

Mission Report Must have 3 paragraphs Include all basic facts from Fact Sheet Use correct spelling, grammar, and capitalization
