Tasks Media Specialist Performs:

Responsible for in Prairie View, Progress and West 5th: day to day activity and operation of media center for material selection print and non-print ordering/purchasing print materials getting materials ready to circulate circulation of materials check in and out catalog materials when necessary order periodicals process store and check out periodicals (for students and staff) take care of newspaper ordering for staff manage media center budget keep current on curriculum & textbook changes in order to keep media center collection

current assist teachers in incorporating media center materials into the curriculum serve on district tech. Committee reading professional journals running the library automated card catalog add new students to circ. Program add new materials to circ. Program add new students to AR program add new students to Star Program add new students to All the Right Type work with overdues, fines, lost & damaged materials weed book collection library skills instruction for grades 1-5 assist teachers & students in finding materials manage the AR program at Prairie View order quizzes and books for the AR program prepare bibliographies communicate new services and resources in the media center work with library aide on library program order equipment and supplies for media center report lab problems at PV to tech people inventory equipment inventory books call tech. support for circ. Program & AR mend books and periodicals maintain a positive relationship with administrators, staff & students load AR tests &label books keep and organize media center statistics video tape in classrooms if ask back-up keyboarding instructor assist students and staff finding AR books on their level

run AR & STAR reports provide grades in library for 3rd 4th & 5th graders trains library aide order films from the ESU for teachers take care of equipment repair do duties as assigned by buildings have library open at 7:30 for students to check out books work with the multi-literacy standardard
