How many thriller films were released in 2012
O The internet movie database tells me that there were 4929 thriller films released in the year twenty twelve.
O I’m not lying.O However, The-numbers.com say There were only 46.O I think I agree with the latter
How profitable is the genre?
O From the previous figures… I’m guessing very?
O According to the-numbers.com the thriller genre made a profit of $1,363,847,295 in twenty twelve alone.
O That’s around 174,019,468 cinema tickets apparently… I won’t argue, I’m no good with maths.
Most successful films? Why?
O So, “The Hunger games” is supposed to have done the best out of most thriller films, earning a huge $408,010,692, This isn’t surprising as it was advertised everywhere, it has a low certificate rating but isn’t childish so its target audience is much wider, plus, to start with it was a book, so people would have paid more attention to it. There was so much hype going round about it and I know some people who have watched it an insane amount of times in the cinema.

O Safe house also did well, earning about $126,181,630. Not as much as the hunger games, but still impressive. The rating of the film is a fifteen, so the age of people legally paying to see it is smaller, which may be why they made a little less money.
