A brief questionnaire I created in order to discover what my audience felt about horror/film magazines and posters. I asked twenty people, ten males and ten females within my target audience age range of 18-24, to participate in my questionnaire. The most common magazine brought was Empire and the target audience revealed that almost all of the participants, were attracted to the cover image of the magazine. The questionnaire also presented that my audience were interested in movie posters and they actually preferred the main character to be upon the poster opposed to any other character.

I then decided to research further into my target audience for my poster and magazine using ‘YouGov Profiles’, I searched ‘Empire’ magazine to see their stereotypical target audience. Being the most common magazine chosen with my questionnaire I will base my magazine cover on Empire’s layout however, some extra research will provide me extra information about the personalities of Empire’s target audience.

The YouGov profiler presented that Empire’s target audience is predominately male however, it does attract a large percentage of female buyers. The target audience is stereotypically working class, working within the job region of entertainment, media, consumer goods and telecommunications. The readers hobbies consist of video games, board games and football the reader also has an interest in movies and celebrities. The personality of an Empire is presented as being laid back, interested in culture and travel and fairly lazy. The reader also consumers other brands such as: Xbox, LoveFilm, PlayStation, Vue and Netflix. Favourite movies were scream, sin city and Cloverfield. YouGov also revealed that the average Empire reader spends 40+ hours per week online. It is apparent that a reader of Empire is a very similar target audience to my film trailer.
