How does this appeal to the specific target audience?

This magazine appeals to the specific target audience by using many different ways. The target audience is 16-26 year olds, this is because it provides the audience (who like different ranges of music) the latest updates in music and in the charts, of alternative and a mix genre of music.

Language:

This magazine uses a range of different languages. ‘Olympics TV exposure boosts music sales’ is sounding interesting and waning more people to read this. The target audience of

younger people will be up with the Olympics and want to know more. They also use quotes like ‘Gaming your music player’ which appeals to the younger, most likely males, as they’ll be into music and games and this will automatically connect with them. The language in billboard is quite informal but still sophisticated and urban. ‘BANG BANG BOOGIE’ will also appeal to the target audience as its informal and fun, it’s the start of an article which also makes it interesting. ‘New Clicks On The Bloc’ is quite informal and people will wonder who the new artist is (as this is a mix genre), the missing out of the ‘K’ on the ‘bloc’ automatically appeals to the younger target audience of 16-26 year olds as they will think this is cool. The quote ‘What teens want’ will also appeal to the teenagers who read this magazine as it is specifically aiming it at them with the word ‘teens’.

Colour: The colour in this magazine all contrasts and goes with each page, making the whole magazine more appealing and look better to the eye. This appeals to the age group 16-26 as there is a mix of colours that all go well with each other and it doesn’t look too tacky or too much. For example on most of the pages there will be lines of blue, which is quite a bright happy colour which will appeal to both males and females, mostly younger. On some of the pages there will be a block of yellow with news in it, this will be in the let third, which is conventional. The yellow goes well with the stripes of blue and is also appealing as it’s a bright colour but not too vibrant. The interview with the main story about Robin Thicke is in all a dark black colour, this makes it look more mysterious and readable.

The text is all in white, which contrasts and goes well with the dark background, this relates to the mix genre as nobody will know what genre it can be and will read it. The interview with Nelly will also appeal because the main colours are black and white, which goes well together and will look readable. The black has connotations of power and symbolises that he is music royalty, the audience will know who it is. The white also signifies purity and innocence and that he is fresh and reflects his persona, this will also appeal to the target audience as it’s quite modern and contemporary.

Images: The images in this magazine relate and appeal to the audience. The image of Nelly sitting on a throne is appealing as people will know who It is and the throne makes him seem like royalty in music which will also interest the audience. The sunglasses Nelly is wearing makes him seem more cool and ‘gangsta’ they also make him seem more

mysterious which could also appeal to the younger audience as he is quite popular. This can also appeal to the male audience as he is quite fashionable and men can see him as a fashion icon. The images of Robin Thicke also appeal to the audience of females as he is quite attractive and popular which will also make them want to read it. He is also in dark colours which makes him more

mysterious and masculine. The ‘New Clicks on the block’s image is also appealing as they seem quite ‘chilled’ and ‘cool’. It’s also at a low angle which makes them seem more powerful and masculine. It can appeal to the audience as they seem around at age. They also seem quite fashionable which will appeal to the men audience as they could also see them as icons. The image of the Jonas Brothers also appeals to the audience as its making them look powerful and cool. They’re also dressed quite smart so they’ll appeal to the more sophisticated audience. They will appeal to the younger audience as they’re quite new and young as well, they are also good looking so his can appeal to the female audience.
