Keep your hand away from the blade 6” in any direction.

Common Operations Use the Fence for the 5th step, ripping the

board. Use a Miter Gauge for Cross Cutting. Always use one of these two devices to guide

your wood. Never free hand cut. Never use both at the same time. Always have a surfaced face and edge when

using the table saw to cut your wood.

Body Placement while Ripping Never stand directly behind the wood, due to

kickback Body turned toward the fence when starting the cut. Left hand should be guiding the wood, outside of the

Margin of Safety. Right hand should be feeding the board until it

reaches the edge of the table. At the edge of the table, hook the push stick on the

board if there is less than 6 inches between your blade and hand.

Body Placement while Ripping As you follow through with the cut, turn your body

toward the saw. Make sure to follow through with the cut until the

wood clears the back side of the blade. Do not reach over the blade, have the tail off person

support your wood. Tail off person should not pull on the board or stand

directly behind the board. To the side of the board is the best spot.

Body placement for Cross Cutting No Fence, use the Miter Gauge, make sure it is

square. Right arm in line with the miter slot, with your right

hand holding the handle. Your left hand is holding the wood tight against the

miter gauge and the table, always keep your left hand to the outside of the miter slot.

Flip hands for cutting in the miter slot on the right side.

Blade Facts Blade determines the size of the tool. Ours is 10” Blade turns on the arbor shaft and is held on with a

washer and nut. When standing at the front of the machine, pull the

wrench toward you to loosen the left-hand threaded nut.

When looking at the blade from the left, it spins clockwise, toward the operator.

Always have a proper throat plate in position before operating the saw.

Setting up the Guard and the Blade Disconnect power Raise blade to check for squareness. Adjust bevel wheel until the blade is square. Lower blade back down to cutting position, 1/8”

above the wood. Measure between the inside of the blade tooth and

the fence to adjust the width accurately. Make sure the fence is locked before starting the

machine. When ripping make sure that the longer side of the

wood against the fence. Stability is the most important part!

Kickback Causes Letting go of the wood, always hang on to the

wood firmly. Allowing the wood to not be tight against the

fence and the table. Debris stuck between the fence and board or

between the table and board. Feeding the wood to quickly.

Offbearer Out of the Margin of Safety Push stick or pencil pointing away from the blade. Never pull on the wood just support it, keeping it level with

the table. Stay behind the fence to the side to protect your body. Make sure that the wood stays in contact with the table and

the fence. Hold on to the body of the board and the scrap piece, at the

same time make sure that the kerf stays open so that it does not pinch the blade.

Do not hand the board over the blade, place it behind the fence for the operator.

Do not reach in for any scrap wood while the blade is moving.

Table Saw Wrap-Up Move left hand to the edge of the table once

the push stick is on the board. This is for safety and stability.

Stop moving the board any time you reposition your hands or body.

Make sure the blade is stopped and lowered before leaving the machine.

Clean up debris and tools when you are done.
