We all believe that technology if used appropriately, can offer a great level playing field to the underserved students in our government schools

19.6%

Government Schools have Computer Labs Do not have a functional Computer Lab

Typical site of an unused computer lab in a rural school

Reasons for Low Usage

• Already burdened and untrained teachers

• Fear of damage due to lack of technical assistance

*as per ASER 2014 report and ICT in schools report by Livemint

66%

We have experimented with Smart Classes and Computer Labs! But both have been heavily dependent on the already burdened, sometimes untrained or uninterested teacher.

Can we now take a step ahead and place that magical device in the hands of entertainment hungry and inquisitive child

• Just 48.1% students in Grade V can read Std II level text

• 32.5% children in Std II cannot recognise letters. This number has increased from 13.4% in 2010

• Over 50% Std V students cannot do subtraction/Division

Since, it may so happen that for the very first time the child may love running to school and enjoy touch based play way

learning…..not forced teaching

Lack of interactive / engaging content or platforms Lack of regular training mechanism for teachers

• 4.4% of total rural population accessed internet through mobile in 2014

• Up from just 0.4% in 2012

• Rural India is sitting on the verge of explosive mobile & internet growth in coming years

In all probability, the same child plays every evening on a similar but smaller android device doing things ten times faster and better

than the intimidated teacher

Considering the growth in mobile and internet penetration in rural India, the probability number is only expected to go higher
