Who was he?

Sydney Lewis was a soldier that fought in the Great War (WW1), survived and was living till some years ago ().

He was born March 12, 1899 and died in 1993.

What did he did?

He fought in the Great War when he was just 12 years old, he was just a kid.

He escaped from home because he wanted to go fighting in the war.

He fought in the Somme War 1916.

When?

This all happened during the times of WW1 (1914-1918), Sydney enlisted himself in August 1915 and he was discharged in 1916 ( we don´t know then month) Because of his mother complaining about his son a 12 year-old fighting during the war.

Where?

He fought in the battle of Somme, in the German front and then was taken back by his mother.

Why?

He fought in this war Because of nationalism. He loved his country ( Great Britain) so for all this love he had for his country he wanted to fight for it.

How?

When he escaped he told the military person who was the person in charge of enlisting soldiers Sydney told him he was old enough to fight in the Great War.

Compare and Contrast

The life of Sydney at that time of the war was horrible because of nationalism. Because of nationalism he wanted to fight in the war at the age of 12 almost our age.

We cannot imagine us being at his age in that war.

Conclusion

Our conclusion is that this guy was a very brave man to go fighting in the worst war the world had ever seen but also we cannot think how it was posible to him to not being scared of all those gun shots, bloody deads, friends dying, and all of the horrible things that war left.
