The SA organising model

• Clear purpose and identity at the center• "Piggybacking" on COP15, drawing in participants already in this center of

energy around climate change• Small core host team focused on holding the identity, the energy, and

quality of the Survival Academy• Not dependent on a specific scale (whether 5 events or 50, Survival

Academy happened) • Self-organising with event hosts responsible for their own events• Clear communication about what core team does and doesn't provide

("rules of engagement" for hosts and participants) • Central venue ongoing, but with events also in various other venues and

possibility for satellite events out of Copenhagen• Decentralised financial model and online platform for social networking

and event registration

Page 27: Survival academy recap

Financial model

• Hosts able to receive payment for their events directly through paypal with their email address

• Hosts responsible for providing invoices/receipts for payments

• Flat admin fee charged to hosts per event for secretariat and joint marketing

• Decentralised tasks enabling volunteer power (non-financial resources)

Next steps

The Survival Academy will go on. In what form is we are still eager to explore.

Do you have suggestions don’t hesitate contacting us by emailing Julie: [email protected]

One thing we do know is that there is still a need for

learning skills and tools to be able to address the climate change challenge.
