The Great Caribbean Treasure Hunt Christopher Columbus discovered America, landing on 12th

October 1492, on "Guanahani," one of the Bahama Islands and then to the island of Dominican Republic - Haiti, Tortuga and Cuba.

Since that time the waters of The Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico has been a hotbed of naval activity beginning in the 1500’s. Columbus founded the first colony in the New World on Hispaniola Island, and discovered Jamaica in 1494.

In fourteen hundred and ninety two Columbus sailed the Ocean blue . . .

He also sailed in 1493, 1498, and 1502. In the course of his four voyages, Christopher Columbus lost nine ships.
