Stonehammer Geopark is pleased to announce we are partnering with Mining Matters & EdGEO to host our 2nd Bi-Annual Teachers Workshop. We have checked and this workshop qualifies for professional development so no out of pocket expense!

During the EdGEO workshop you will explore the landscape of the geopark which has been created by the collision of continents, the closing and opening of oceans, volcanoes, earthquakes, ice ages and climate change. We will provide you with the tools you need in your classrooms to make it real for our 21st century students.

What is Stonehammer Geopark? Stonehammer Geopark is about geology, but it is also about people, society and culture. Our lives are shaped by the geology; where we settle, the landscape, the crops we grow, natural hazards, water resources, climate, what we mine, and the energy we use are all linked to geology. You will experience a billion years of Earth’s history. For more information about Stonehammer visit: www.stonehammergeopark.com

What is EdGEO? EdGEO, initiated in the early 1970s, supports local workshops on earth science for Canadian teachers. It is coordinated by the Canadian Geoscience Education Network of the Canadian Federation of Earth Sciences (CFES).

What is Mining Matters?Mining Matters is a charitable organization dedicated to bringing knowledge and awareness about Canada’s geology and mineral resources to students, educators and the general public. The organization provides current information about rocks, minerals, metals, mining and the diverse career opportunities available in the minerals industry. Mining Matters offers exceptional educational resources that meet provincial curriculum expectations. Core to the program are the Mining Matters educational resources, created by educators and Earth science experts. Mining Matters is excited about the partnership with Stonehammer Geopark.Limited Registration!
