DESCRIPTION
The DLSU TREDONE students presented different perspectives on life of some some personalities with deep spirituality and whose lives had impact on the lives of others. St. Baptist de La Salle is one of those who had left an imprint through life of service and self-giving. He dedicated more than forty years of his life to the education of the children of the poor. Moved by the plight of the poor who seemed so "far from salvation" either in this world or the next, he determined to put his own talents and advanced education at the service of the children "often left to themselves and badly brought up." To be more effective, he abandoned his family home, moved in with the teachers, renounced his position as Canon and his wealth, and so formed a new community of lay religious teachers. The cultivation of that spirit of faith, piety, mortification, and obedience was his primary concern. For him, “Man had a destiny, and the teacher was to inculcate this truth by cultivating and developing the theological virtues in the souls of the children”.
