STEREOTYPES

The stereotype is a simplified

and / or standardized

conception or image, often held

together by people for another

group.

Stereotypes can be positive or

negative and are typical

generalizations based on

minimal or limited knowledge

about a group of people.

Stereotypes harm by encouraging

of prejudice and discrimination.

Prejudice is not only a stated

opinion or belief, but an attitude

that includes feelings such as

contempt and dislike.

Discrimination occurs when a

person is treated less favorably

against another .

Incomplete information,

isolation and segregation have

perpetuated many of the

stereotypes.

Educational communities

provide an important

opportunity to challenge these

negative perceptions and to

develop a culture that includes,

recognizes and appreciates

diversity.

There is an institution in our town, Mandra, called

“Social Grocery”

Our attention was also driven by another institution, in the

neighboring city of Eleusis:

“The Friendly Nest”

This all gave us enormous satisfaction and brought us

together for the common effort.

We had made a little step towards people we used to

ignore their existence or needs.
