Some Issues to Address

There is a need to Use Linked System funding to procure Fretwell-

Downing Have transition time when Brodart and Auto-

Graphics services may overlap Have close cooperation from all parties to work in a

multi-vendor environment Address the linking of individual and shared

systems in the context of• Capabilities of the vendors’ products• Current interloan policies and procedures

Page 17: Statewide Resource Sharing Future Plans for WISCAT

17

Transition Steps: July - October 2001

Provide older copy of full WISCAT file to Auto-Graphics

Test loading and batch update processes Test interactive update processes Test serials union catalog update processes Load June update when available in September

Page 18: Statewide Resource Sharing Future Plans for WISCAT

18

Transition Steps: July - October 2001

Discontinue updating WISCAT databases with Brodart

Allow libraries to continue to use the Brodart client to create update transactions

Apply Brodart client transactions to Auto-Graphics file Work with Auto-Graphics on file format and logistics

of this process

Page 19: Statewide Resource Sharing Future Plans for WISCAT

Page 21: Statewide Resource Sharing Future Plans for WISCAT

21

Transition Steps:Moving Towards Linked Systems

Determine order for working with libraries that want to connect using Z39.50 searching

Begin to configure Fretwell-Downing for Z39.50 searching of shared/local online catalogs

Test Z39.50 configuration with local/shared systems Work initially with three library systems Expand to more libraries when feasible

Page 22: Statewide Resource Sharing Future Plans for WISCAT

22

Transition Steps:Moving Towards Linked Systems

Test Z39.50 searching as a means of creating interlibrary loan requests

At a later date Evaluate the use of Z39.50 searching and related

interlibrary loan processes in a high volume environment
