Release Date: May 16, 2002
Synopsis: (22 Years Before Episode IV) Ten years after the events of the Battle of Naboo, not only has the galaxy undergone significant change, but so have Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padmé Amidala, and Anakin Skywalker as they are thrown together again for the first time since the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo. Anakin has grown into the accomplished Jedi apprentice of Obi-Wan, who himself has transitioned from student to teacher. The two Jedi are assigned to protect Padmé whose life is threatened by a faction of political separatists. As relationships form and powerful forces collide, these heroes face choices that will impact not only their own fates, but the destiny of the Republic.
Opening Crawl: There is unrest in the Galactic Senate. Several thousand solar systems have declared their intentions to leave the Republic. This separatist movement, under the leadership of the mysterious Count Dooku, has made it difficult for the limited number of Jedi Knights to maintain peace and order in the galaxy. Digital TechnologyAll you need to know about 2002.
You need to remind yourself on a few things about 2002.
Firstly, HD DVDs and Blu-Ray did not exist was we know it today. They were still in their infancy.
However the torrent world was still growing and of course the pirate dvd sellers were still in their prime.
The internet connection was at average 1mb at best, lowering the amount of casual PC users downloading films due to taking hours compared to the relative time of around
30minutes in our present day.
Marketing Star Wars
Oo-er there's a pretty picture!
George also created many other subsidiaries such as;
Lucas Digital
Skywalker Sound - postproduction sound editing
Industrial Light & Magic - special effects
Lucas Licensing - licensing and merchandising
Lucas Learning - educational materials
Lucas Books - book publishing
LucasArts - video and computer games
Lucasfilm Animation – animation
Lucasfilm Animation Singapore - animation
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones otherwise known as Star Wars Episode II was marketed in a number of ways, first via adverts at the cinema and TV as well as numerous Bill Boards. Surprisingly there wasn't much of it spread
around the internet, like films such as Cloverfield.
However, due to the film being a part of the hugely popular franchise Star Wars it didn't need any marketing at all, the audience simply wanted to watch it to continue the story they had been watching for the previous 4 movies!
The movie itself is aimed at the mainstream audience.
DistributionChoices choices, DVD, Video, Internet where to go...
The film was distributed by 20th century fox and ‘Lucasfilms’ which were both used for the first 4 films before 20th century had a massive reputation and so did ‘Lucasfilms’. George Lucas, the director used his own distributing
company to help distribute his film.
It first went to the cinema and then went to DVD.
ProductionYour telling me those lights are better?
Some of the major things for the production of the Movie via new technology are the following:
1. Yoda was no longer a puppet but fully digital Animation
2. Droids were done via green screens
3. Large scale affects not possible before were now computer generated
4. The main thing was that battles were now animated so you could have them on a vast scale never seen before
