Star Trek- Into Darkness Trailer Analaysis. What are trailers for? Trailers are used to advertise a film in order too sell it too the public, they are meant to entice you too come and see the fil. They way this is done is by using cliff hangers that leave you wondering what will happen next without revealing too much off the story, so that it is still worth watching. How is your trailer making meaning for the audience? The fact that in my trailer there Is next to none dialogue too match each scene exactly other then the over view voices of two of the characters. This is making the trailer hide the secrets of certain scenes. Additionally In the trailer, it consists of mostly quick cuts and there is no long scenes in there. The fact there they are short and quick makes the trailer contain a lot of information yet still seems to keep it secretive somehow. What are the representational issues in your trailer? The issues in my trailer are the fact that everything may be a little too quick for people to understand and these could lead to a major unappeal from the audience and there isn’t a lot of coverage of Chris Pine as he is a main character. How does film language work - camera, editing, sound, MES- how is it shot? The majority of the trailer consists of quick cuts, creating suspense. Although camera angles do vary from shot too shot, most are close ups when it comes too characters and when it comes to wide areas, pan shots are used. How is the audience meant to react? uses and gratifications? I feel as if the audience are big fans of Star Trek then this trailer does a great job in getting them exited and enthusiastic about the film, although if you aren't a big fan, I can see some people getting confused about what the story is about. Although this isn’t a huge problem as Star Trek is a hugely known enterprise and there fan base is big enough that the loss of the people who don’t understand doesn’t have a great impact.

Star Trek- Into Darkness Trailer Analaysis. What are trailers for?

Trailers are used to advertise a film in order too sell it too the public, they are meant to entice you too come and see the fil. They way this is done is by using cliff hangers that leave you wondering what will happen next without revealing too much off

the story, so that it is still worth watching. How is your trailer making meaning for the audience?

The fact that in my trailer there Is next to none dialogue too match each scene exactly other then the over view voices of two of the characters. This is making the trailer hide the secrets of certain scenes. Additionally In the trailer, it consists of mostly

quick cuts and there is no long scenes in there. The fact there they are short and quick makes the trailer contain a lot of information yet still seems to keep it secretive somehow.

a major unappeal from the audience and there isn’t a lot of coverage of Chris Pine as he is a main character. How does film language work - camera, editing, sound, MES- how is it shot?

The majority of the trailer consists of quick cuts, creating suspense. Although camera angles do vary from shot too shot, most are close ups when it comes too characters and when it comes to wide areas, pan shots are used.

Although this isn’t a huge problem as Star Trek is a hugely known enterprise and there fan base is big enough that the loss of the people

who don’t understand doesn’t have a great impact.is it an effective trailer?  Why?

Overall, yes I feel like this is a very effective trailer, as it doesn’t reveal too much of the story line, but just enough to leave you on edge. All characters are revealed so you can have a good idea off who's in the film. I feel as this is a good trailer to sell the

Star Trek film- into darkness.
