After studying chapter 7, you should be able to:

• Understand cultural antipathy.• Define ethnocentrism, describe its function and

understand its causes.• Define stereotyping, know how people distort reality,

and know how stereotypes are transmitted.• Define prejudice, know how it is communicated,

know its causes and functions, and describe ways of intervening.
