SRI State Workshop
NABARD, Ranchi
A workshop was organized by NABARD, Ranchi on 6th of Jan, 2012.
It was attended by the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Mr. Arjun Munda and by the well renowned expert on SRI, Dr. Norman Uphoff. Norman Uphoff (born 1941) is an American social scientist serving as a Professor of Government and International Agriculture at Cornell University. He is the Acting Director of the Cornell Institute of Public Administration and the former director of the Cor-nell International Institute for Food, Agriculture, and Development.
The special aspect of SRI is the new paradigm shift it talks about, a fact which many in the scientific commu-nity is yet to grasp. The paradigm shift is about thinking of crop production more from the viewpoint of biology rather than a more viewpoint of chemistry which came into vogue after the second World War.
In fact the entire world is seeing a shift from understanding the world from a mechanistic viewpoint to a more complex, networked and living systems viewpoint of Biology. This is being applied in systems as diverse as management and marketing.
At NEEV we are glad that we were able to contribute to this movement in whatever capacity we could.
