PHYSICAL EDUCATIONThe development of fundamental movement andfundamental sport skills in tandem with critical thinkingand communication skills Marshland Primary is dedicated to providing students with engaging and meaningful instruction in Physical Education in line with the New Zealand Curriculum. In 2013 all teaching staff are undertaking an extensive professional development schedule run by Sport Canterbury to further enhance instruction through Teaching Games for Understanding with a focus on strategic thinking.

HEALTHIn health education, students develop their understanding of the factorsthat influence the health of individuals, groups, and society: lifestyle,economic, social, cultural, political, and environmental factors. Studentsdevelop competencies for mental wellness, reproductive health andpositive sexuality, and safety management, and they developunderstandings of nutritional needs (New Zealand Curriculum 2007).At Marshland Primary we are committed to providing students with abroad range of quality learning experiences in the area of Health. Currentstudents are participating in Keeping Ourselves Safe Kia Kaha Positive Puberty Life Education
  • 4. SPORTAs a school community a strong emphasis is placedon sport at Marshland Primary School. A widevariety of sporting opportunities are provided by theschool and a commitment to maintaining high levelsof participation is balanced with a strong ethos ofachieving success.As a small school we are extremely proud of the factthat we are able to be more than competitive in arange of sports with much larger schools.
