Soundtrack in filmThe soundtrack in film trailers sets the mood for films, and heightens the mood and scenes involved. In trailers, it is easy to distinguish the difference between the film genres. Academy awards are given out to actors and actresses for scenes with great intensity to the actors but also to the composers of the film, for putting such drama and height into the film. The soundtrack includes the films score, dialogue and sound effects, which without them all would influence the film to be incredibly boring, and allow the audience to lose a lot of emotion and feelings for the film.

horrorIn horror films, the music send chills down people spines, and builds up to what will be either an anti-climax or a climax. Without the music in the horror film, the film may not actually be as scary as it seems. Due to many people jumping at a door slamming or a cawing of a bird, which in reality isnt that scary, but because of the anticipation involved due to the films score, people feel more fear for the film despite nothing potentially being involved.

Star warsStar Wars, is arguably one of the most famous film scores of all time. The music is featured through out the film, and both at the beginning and end of the film. This score especially builds tension but also a sense of familiarity for the audience to know when something is going to happen.The score itself is recognisable by so many people, and by hearing the music on your TV or on your computer, when a trailer appears. When the music is heard, it is recognised that the film is being shown

jawsThe Jaws music is a fearful piece of music which is incredibly recognised, and doesn't just appear in this film, but also documentary's or other films which include large fish or things of the unknown.This piece of music is one of the best examples of a build up of tension. The music starts off slow and steady, but then builds till the climax hits.

Romantic film soundtrackThe film includes quite harmonic music, which resembles love and being sweet. The artists include folk and indie artists like Of Monsters and Men and Taylor Swift. In the trailer, the music starts off as a happy piece of music which sets the mood and love, but then falls in to a piece of depressing slow music to build tension, and then rises back up again for the climax of the music. Some trailers include three different songs, whilst others include one piece of music that will include all three emotions.Lake House Of Monsters and Men; About Time (2013)
