Why are Social Media statistics important to keep on top of?

1. To tells us where people are online.

As an advertising agency we want to know

where people are, so that we can engage

people in the most effective way.

2. To shows us the current trends in social media.

• What are the popular sites?

• Which are the fastest growing sites?

• Which sites are losing users, the fastest?

We can also discover how users interact with

the platform; is it just a quick check to see

what’s happening while they are out and

about or do they login for 20 minutes.

3. To predict where the next big thing will come from.

With this knowledge we can gain useful

insights and offer our clients the most up to

date and innovative solutions.

1. What does this mean for Instagram? The social media platform hit 100 million users in less than 2 years and is the dominator of the filtered photo market but will users now dismiss the platform for a more integrated process on Facebook or Twitter?

2. Facebook bought Instagram earlier in 2012. So why are they competing with themselves?

3. Facebook beat Twitter to the punch…again.

In terms of the social media landscape, the most notable change was the introduction of native photo filtering on the iOS Facebook app which works very much like the Instagram filters.

Twitter is also reportedly working on adding their own photo filters to their mobile apps to unify the user experience and cut out third party apps.

We’ve put together an infographic, a visual representation of data, to prove our point.
