Social groups of our thriller
By Itamar Blauer
Groups attributed with our thriller
The social groups involved in our thriller are teenage males. The reason for this is that our thriller is based on a real life event of a high school massacre, which features a teenage male who shoots people in his school. The social group of youthful males is negatively represented. This is also realistic as explained above.
Why male?
The reason for us specifically showcasing males, is that psychologically, men are more aggressive and therefore have more powerful wants and desires, therefore the use of strength and aggression is used to portray a sense of authority.
Examples of this social group
The first example of this social group is of the real shooter of Virginia Tech. We can see how he is shown to be negative and aggressive, hence him wielding two pistols.
Examples of this social group
The second example of this social group is in the film ‘We need to talk about Kevin’. We can see him as being negative and confused, therefore his actions are carried out accordingly.
Evaluation of the social group examples
These examples do not differ from our thriller idea as they are both based on high school massacres. I believe that those examples are very comparable and fitting for our thriller idea as they showcase teenage men in the possession of weaponry.
