• Poor nations have limited access to health services, education, sanitation, adequate nutrition and housing.
• Only 10% of research money in the US is devoted to the health problems that account for 90% of the global disease burden.
• Hunger and malnutrition are also problems of poor nations.
SMOKING as a major health problem of poor nations
• According to WHO, 5 million people die each year from tobacco use.
• India accounts for almost a third of the world’s tobacco-related deaths.
• China-being the world’s biggest market for tobacco.
Global Majority-Minority Relations• A minority group: A group of people in a subordinate
position in wealth, power and prestige.• A majority group: A group of people in a superordinate
position in wealth, power and prestige.

Xenophobia: beliefs, attitudes and prejudices that reject, exclude and vilify groups made up of outsiders or foreigners.
