FACTS TODAY

• It is 20% more expensive to manufacture in the U.S. than it is in its nine largest trading partners (excluding cost of labor)

• Taken alone, manufacturing in the United States would be the 10th largest economy in the world

• Manufacturing represents 67% of private-sector R&D spending as well as 30% of the country’s productivity growth

• For every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, another $1.48 is added to the economy, the highest multiplier effect of any economic sector.

• 500.000 jobs created during last 3 years and 600.000 unfilled jobs

2020 GOALS

• The United States will be the best place in the world to manufacture and attract foreign direct investment.

• Manufacturers in the United States will be the world’s leading innovators.

• The United States will expand access to global markets to enable manufacturers to reach the 95 percent of consumers who live outside our borders.

• Manufacturers in the United States will have access to the workforce that the 21st-century economy demands.
