What you need to know before making an appointment

In order to participate in an online tutoring session, you must have a headset and microphone that will enable you and a tutor to discuss your paper. Also, you will need to use a computer that has a volume control.

Be sure that you are using a computer that is connected to the Internet. For best results, you should not use a wireless connection. A cable connection or DSL is preferred.

Be sure that your computer is equipped with an updated version of Java. If you need to update Java on your computer, go to www.java.com to download the updated version.

If you have the necessary equipment and technology, click on the next folder titled “Make an online appointment” to complete the appointment form. Upon submitting the form, you will hear from a Writing Center tutor who will confirm your appointment and send you a link to the online meeting.
