Here is the second installment in the series … Sometimes the value of an MBA is not only what you learn, but who you learn with. Evan Spinosa, who completed the UAlbany Weekend MBA Program in 2012, says one of the greatest takeaways from his time at UAlbany was the knowledge and inspiration he gained from his classmates. Course materials and group projects were real-world and immediately applicable back at the office. “I think I was the second youngest one in the program,” he says. “I was constantly surrounded by VPs, CEOs, very high-caliber students. It’s great to be immersed in those kinds of students and faculty.” Evan is digital content manager for the Olympic Regional Development Authority in Lake Placid, N.Y. The authority maintains facilities first used in the 1980 Olympic Games and manages three area ski resorts. (Editor’s Note Evan produced the video of our international trip to Munich, Germany in 2011, which you can find here on our YouTube channel !) Since joining the authority in 2004 to manage guest services, Evan has earned several promotions. He became a marketing assistant in 2006 and was promoted to assistant manager of marketing and social media in 2010. The next year he joined corporate development as an account manager, and in 2012 he was named digital content manager. “I feel that this was due to hard work and accelerated by the skills and experience attained through the Weekend MBA Program ,” he says. He recently purchased a house in the Lake Placid area and says the flexibility of the Weekend MBA allowed him to keep building his career in a place that feels like home. “I still think there’s some room to grow where I am now,” he says. Our next info session is Tuesday, September 10, 6:00 p.m. at our Albany-Colonie Executive Education Center . If you are so inclined, there is still time to enroll in the program before September 20.
