SMART HOME ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

USING IEEE 802.15.4 AND ZIGBEE

Moving towards the smart energy management will require changes not only in the way

energy is supplied, but in the way energy market requires two types of Zigbee networks for

device control and energy management. These include neighborhood area networks for energy,

using Zigbee for sub energy within a home or apartment, and using Zigbee to communicate to

devices within the home. Recently, organizations use Zigbee to effectively deliver solutions for a

variety of areas including consumer electronic device control, energy management and efficiency

home and commercial building automation as well as industrial plant management. As an

ecosystem, the Agreement offers everything future product and service companies need to

develop Zigbee products. The smart energy networks could include Zigbee IEEE 802.15.4. It is

suggested that the majority of the nodes in the network should be based on one stack profile or

the other to get reliable performance. Zigbee smart energy certified products must be based upon

a Zigbee Compliant Platform.

Existing System:

Existing system employed with wired connection. Wired system requires proper planning

and construction works for efficient and clean design. It is the reason wireless communications

are replacing the wired ones.

Proposed System:

The proposed system works in two modes, energy management mode and home security

mode. When the system is in energy management mode, the PIR sensor checks whether there is

any human motion around that area. If it founds a human motion then it checks LDR for

brightness, and then switches on the corresponding lights. The simplest lighting control system

turns off lights at a specified time when the building is assumed to be empty, and turns lights

back on again before people arrive for work the next time.

Whenever the user goes out of the home he has to select home security mode. If the

system is in home security mode the controller stops the lightings in home and checks the PIR

sensor for any human motion, if it founds any human movement then it sends the warning

message to the control centre to avoid theft. By the mean time it also checks the gas leakage

using gas sensor. When the gas leakage is found in home the controller sends the warning

message to the control centre to avoid fire accidents. We address a new smart home control

system based on sensor networks to make home networks more intelligent and automatic.
