ItgivesmeimmensepleasureinpresentingtoyouthefourthbatchofstudentsofSchoolofLaw,ChristUniversitysettograduateintheyear2014.Itwaswiththisbatchintheyear2009thatweintroducedBBALLB(Hons.)alongwithBALLB(Hons.)continuingthetrendofinnovationinlearning.Thismarksacommendablegrowththat,weasaninstitution,haveachievedsinceitsinceptionintheyear2006.

TheCurriculumofSchoolofLawisverydynamic,keepinginmindthecurrentrequirementsoftheindustryandtheupcomingareasoflaw.Thestudentsaretaughtawiderangeofsubjectswhichhelpsthemingaininganinsightintothemultifariousfacetsthisprofessioncanoffer.

Theinstitution,espousingthecorevaluesoftheUniversity,believesinholisticdevelopmentofitsstudents.Thusithasbeensuccessfullyabletoproducestudentsyearafteryearwhonotonlyexcelinacademicsbuthavealsoprovedtheirmettleinmootcourts,debates,clientcounseling,arbitrationandmediationcompetitions,conferencesandpaperpresentationsatnationalandinternationallevelandhavealsoexcelledinthe�ieldofresearchandpublications.

ItismyproudprivilegetointroducethestudentsofthefourthbatchoftheSchoolofLaw,ChristUniversityandIwouldliketocongratulatethemfortheirachievements.Ourstudentshavere�lectedtheirhardwork,dedicationandperseveranceinvariousspheres,includingacademicsandextra-curricularactivities.SchoolofLawaimsatprovidingstudentstheopportunitytoexcelandnurturethequalitiesandskillsthatwillmakethemprofessionalsintheir�ield.

Formedin2006,SchoolofLaw(SLCU),isapartofChristUniversity,Bangalore,whichwasfoundedandisadministeredbyCarmelitesofMaryImmaculate(CMI).CMI,the�irstindigenousCatholicreligiouscongregationofIndiawithamembershipof2000,rendersitsservicetohumanityineducational,social,healthcareandotheractivities.Theparentuniversity,apremiereducationalinstitution,isanacademicfraternityofindividualsdedicatedtothemottoofexcellenceandserviceandalreadyhasaprovenhistoryofsuccessinthe�ieldofeducation.Thoughitisaminorityinstitution,ChristUniversitymaintainsasecularoutlooktowardseducation.Studentsofallcastes,religions,creedsandlanguages.

Infrastructure and Campus Life

MEETING HALLS

A2000seater,airconditionedauditoriumwithprojectors,stateoftheartaudioand lighting system is available for functions. A 300 seater auditorium in thecentralblockcaterstotheneedsofdiminutivemeetingsandworkshops.ThreemoreauditoriumsnamelyCampusView,SkyViewandGreenViewarelocatedinthecentralblock.Apartfromtheseauditoriums,ConferenceHall,AssemblyHall,SeminarHall,PanelRoom,TerraceGarden,MiniAuditorium,CouncilRoomandBirds Park are available exclusively for institutional and departmentalprogrammes.

StateoftheartinfrastructureamidstgreeneryisthehallmarkoftheUniversity.Variousseminarhalls,Wi-FienabledandLCDmountedclassroomsandvastsportsgroundsaddtotheambienceofthisinstitutionofhigherlearning.

LIBRARY

TheChristUniversitylibraryhousesmorethan2,50,000books,600periodicals,27 newspapers, 5000 CD's and DVD's. The library subscribes to 13 onlinedatabaseswithcampuswideaccessandhasmorethan250computerterminalsto facilitate access to the digital world. The library in-house processes arecomputerizedandthelibrarycatalogueisavailableonline.

UNIVERSITY WEBSITE AND WEBMAIL

Students use their registered number and attendance password foraccessing internet, for checking the attendance, progress report,downloading hall ticket and marks card. Course material is accessedthroughtheLearningManagementSystem(LMS),Moodle.PasswordsareassignedbytheSystemAdministrator.Thewebsitealsohascampusradio,calendarandwebmailwhicharehostedfromlocalserversonthecampus.Everystudent isgivenaChristUniversityemail-idwith7GBspace.Allacademiccommunicationissenttothisid.

TheUniversityhasprayerhalls,withasereneandcalmatmosphereforthosewhowishtospendtimeinsilence,re�lectionandprayer.

SPORTS AND GAMES, HEALTH AND FITNESS

TheUniversityhasseparatecourtsformajorsportslikebasketball,football,tennis,volleyball,throwballandhockey.Intra-institutionandinter-institutionmatchesandsportsdaygivethestudentsampleopportunitytoexhibittheirsportstalentsandskills.ChristUniversityalsohasaMultiGymandFitnessCentreforbothstudentsandfaculty.Thewell-stockedgymconsistsofMultiGym,ManualWalker,ExcerCycleandWeights.

CANTEEN AND KIOSKS

ThespaciousCafeteriaintheAuditoriumBlockandFresheteriainthe Central block offer the students quality food at reasonableprices.TheKioskinBlockIIandtheSnackBarinBlockIprovideeasyaccesstostudentsseekingtorefreshthemselveswithsnacksduringshortbreaks.TheIvyHallandGourmetprovidethestudentsamplespacetorelaxorstudywithfacilitiessuchasphotocopying,snacksandlunchcountersandinternetbrowsingetc.

The Batch of 2014Thebatchof2014,hasbeenasymbolofdedication,determination,perseveranceandimmensetalent.TheemphasisthatSchoolofLaw,ChristUniversitylaysonbothcurriculumaswellasactivitiesoutsidethisspherehasbeenwell-imbibedandthestudentshavebeeninstrumentalinestablishingSLCUasadistinguishedcentreforacademicandprofessionalexcellence.Whilstthis isthefourthbatchundertheBALLBprogramandthethirdbatchundertheLLMprogram,year2014wouldwitnessthe�irstbatchofstudentspassingoutundertheBBALLBprogram.

The students of the 2014 batch have earned laurels both inside and outside the law school, ranging frommoot court competitions,conventionalandparliamentarydebates,clientcounsellingcompetitions,culturaleventsandsportstournaments.Well-trainedinresearchmethodologyandwriting,severalstudentshavecontributedtolegalliterature,includingnationalandinternationaljournalsandlawreviews.

Theyarekeenlyengagedinsocialcausesandhaveencouragedlegalaidandassistanceamongtherestofthestudentbody.Thisgroupofstudentsexhibitskill,hardwork,pro�iciencyandhonestyinalltheirendeavours,asindividualsandasabatch.Theirwillingnesstolearnandtogrowwillhelpthemstandoutamongthelegalfraternity.

TheUniversityofferstrainingundertheArmyWingoftheNationalCadetCorps.ParadesandtheoryclassesareheldduringtheafternoonsessiononSaturdays.Thetotalnumberofparadesinayearistwenty.TrainingisheldintheUniversitycampus.Theregularparadesinclude training in drill, map reading, weapon training, obstacle etc. It also includesparadesfor�iring,socialserviceandadventure.Theadventureactivitiesareparasailing,horse riding, rock climbing, �iring, mountaineering, cycle expedition, motorcycleexpedition,trekkingetc.

The University conducts Legal Awareness Camps every year. This year the campswereconductedinJyothiNiwasCollege-Bangalore,ChristCollege(PU),ChristUniversity-KengeriCampusandvariousslumsandruralareasinandacrossBangalore.

(a)TheserulesmaybecalledRecruitmentPolicy,2014.

2. Definitions

Intheserulesunlessthecontextotherwiserequires,

(a)“Acceptance”meansthecon�irmationbyanApplicantwhichwillbe

communicatedtotheprospectiveRecruiterthroughthePRC;

(b)“Applicant”meansastudentoftheBatchof2014attheSchoolofLaw,

ChristUniversity,Bangalore,whohasregisteredhimself/herselfwith

thePRC;

(c) “Final InterviewList”means the list ofApplicants shortlisted for

appearing in theFinal Interviews, in accordancewith theprocedure

mentionedinclause7;

(d)“FinalInterviews”meansinterviewsconductedbytheRecruitersat

any timeduring theRecruitmentProcessbasedonwhichanoffer is

madetotheApplicant;

(e)“InternshipsandPlacementsCommittee”meanstheInternshipsand

PlacementsCommittee2012-13;

(f)“MeritList”meansthelistofselectedApplicantstowhomtheFinal

OfferhasbeenmadeduringtheRecruitmentProcess;

(g)“Offer”meanstheofferextendedbytheRecruitertotheApplicanton

thecompletionoftheFinalIntervieworanyotherprocessorprocesses

undertakenbytheRecruiter;

(h)“PlacementandRecruitmentCell”(“PRC”)meanstheindependent

unit within the Internships and Placements Committee, which is

entrustedwiththeresponsibilityoffacilitatingtherecruitmentprocess;

(I)“PreInterviewScreening”meanstheprocessorprocessesconducted

bytheRecruiter,ifitissodesirous,forthepurposeofshortlistingthe

Applicants who will get an opportunity to appear for the Final

Interviews;

(j)“Pre-placementOffer”meansanofferforplacementreceived

by an applicant subsequent to individual coordinationwith a

recruiter,or throughapre-recruitment internshipcoordinated

by thePRCor the InternshipsandPlacementsCommittee; (k)

“Recruiter”means any lawyer's chambers, law �irm, company,

non-governmentalorganisation,PSU'soranysuchorganisation

whichoffersinternshipsorrecruitmentstolawstudents;

(l)“RecruitmentProcess”asfarasApplicantisconcerned-means

the process undertaken to conduct the recruitments, which

beginsfromthedateofregistrationoftheApplicantswiththe

PRCandconcludeswhenthe�irstofferismadetotheApplicant;

AsfarasRecruiterisconcerned-meanstheprocessundertakento

conduct the recruitments, which begins from the date of

registrationoftheRecruiterwiththePRCandconcludeswhen

con�irmationletterisreceived;

(m)“Rules”meanstheRecruitmentPolicy,2013-14;

(n) “University” means School of Law, Christ University,

Bangalore;

3. Registration of Students

(a) The student's opting to participate in the campus

RecruitmentProcesswouldberequiredto�ilewiththePRCthe

RecruitmentRegistrationForm(Form'B')onsuchdate/sasthe

PRCmayspecifyinthisbehalf.TheApplicantshallproducethe

markssheetsandotherrelateddocuments,onademandmadeby

thePRC.

4. Registration of Recruiters

(a)TheRecruiterswhoarewillingtoparticipateinthecampus

RecruitmentProcesswouldberequiredto�ilewiththePRC,the

RecruitmentRegistrationForm(Form'A').

(b)Thedateandslotshallbeallottedandcommunicatedtothe

prospectiveRecruiterbythePlacementsTeam,uponreceiving

theRecruitmentRegistrationForm.

5. Pre Placement Talks

(a) Recruiters interested in conducting Pre Placement Talks

(PPT)whichfacilitatesinteractionbetweenthestudentsandthe

potentialrecruitersshallcoordinatewiththePRCand�ixdates

forconductingthem.

(b)ThePrePlacementTalkshavetobeconductedanytimeprior

tothebeginningofthePreInterviewScreening.

6. Pre Interview Screening

(a) The procedure for Pre Interview Screening (if any) is the

Recruitersownpolicy.

(b)TheApplicantsselectedinthePreInterviewScreeningshall

qualifyforappearingintheFinalInterviews.

7. Short Listing and the Final Interview List

(a)Afterthecompletionofrecruitmentregistrationand/orPre

InterviewScreening,PRCshallformulateaFinalInterviewList

foreveryregisteredRecruiter;

(b)TheFinalInterviewListshallcontainthenamesofApplicants

whohavequali�iedforappearingfortheFinalInterviews.

(c)TheFinalInterviewListshallbemadeasperthefollowing:

(i)AccordingtotheRecruiter'srecruitmentpolicy,or

(ii) According to the results of the Pre Interview Screening

conductedbytheRecruiter,or

(iii) In case theRecruiterhasno �ixedmethodof short listing

candidates, Curricula Vitae of all interested students shall be

forwardedtotheRecruiterforshortlisting.

(d) In case the Recruiter has no procedure for Pre Interview

Screening, the list of interested students shall automatically

becometheFinalInterviewList.

8. Waitlisted Candidates

(a)AllRecruitersshallgivealistofwaitlistedcandidatesattwo

stagesoftheRecruitmentprocesstothePlacementsTeam:

(i)WaitlistedCandidatesforInterviews:Tofacilitateinterviews

ofthosewhoarenotintheFinalInterviewListoftheApplicants,

toappearfortheFinalInterviews.

(ii) Interviewed Applicants Waitlist: To be provided by the

Recruiter, containing candidates beyond the list of selected

ApplicantstowhomOffershavebeenmadeforemploymentafter

theFinalInterviews.

(b)TheWaitlistforinterviewsheremeansthatifanyApplicant

whoisselectedintheFinalInterviewListisnotavailableforthe

interview then the Recruiter can interview the Applicant

mentioned in the waitlist, if the Recruiter considers so

appropriate.

(c) The Interviewed ApplicantsWaitlist refers to interviewed

Applicants,towhomoffersforemploymenthavenotbeenmade

bytheRecruiter,buttheRecruiteriswillingtoconsiderthemif

theOfferhasbeenrejectedbyanApplicantintheMeritListand

the Recruiter is willing to consider those in the Interviewed

ApplicantsWaitlist.

(d) All the Waitlists are to be kept con�idential and will be

disclosedaspertheinstructionsoftheRecruiters. 42

9. Final Offer

(a)AllRecruiterswillberequiredtodisclosetheresultsoftheFinal

InterviewsandanyOffermadetoApplicant(s)onlythroughthePRC.

ThePRCshallmaintaintherecordofoffersacceptedandrejectedbythe

Applicant(s).

(b)AllRecruitersneedtodeclarethe�inalselectionresultswithinthe

stipulated time as agreed upon by the Recruiter and the PRC, in

accordancewiththeaboverule.TheRecruiterswillinformandprovide

thedesignatedPRCTeammemberwiththeMeritListandtheWaitlist.

ThisshallbelatermadepublictotheApplicantswhohadappearedfor

theFinalInterviewsorfortheprocessasundertakenbythatRecruiter.

10. Withdrawal

(a) A withdrawal by an Applicant after getting shortlisted for �inal

interview shall conclude his/her participation in the Recruitment

Process.

(b)AwithdrawalatanystageoftheRecruitmentProcessmustbe�iled

bytheApplicantwiththePRCinFormC.

11. Miscellaneous

(a) The PRC is the only authorized body to formally approach and

communicate with the Recruiters in relation to the Campus

recruitment/s.

(b)ThedecisionofthePRCregardingselectionofthecandidatesatany

stageoftherecruitmentprocessshallbe�inal.

(c)ThePRCmayfromtimetotimerequiretheApplicantsto�ilewiththe

PRC various documents within a stipulated time frame. Anywillful

disregardofthesameshallconcludetheApplicantsparticipationinthe

RecruitmentProcess.

(d) The Recruiters are requested not to encourage any personal

communication made by candidates whose applications they have

receivedthroughthePRC.
