Overrest.
Up to the age of 50, loss is slight and progressive. From the age of 50s this
loss increases due to loss of firmness and elasticity.
The sun has a notable effect on the loss of firmness and ages the skin by 10
years.
There is no correlation between the loss of real firmness and the visual
symptoms of sagging skin (perceived firmness).

The cosmetic face lift of the future
Components:
1. Active substances that stimulate the synthesis of the basic dermal
elements
1. To stimulate the collagen production
2. To protect the elastin from its degeneration.
2. Active substances that reverse photoaging in the profound dermis
(permitting the recovery of 10 years of youth).
3. Next-generation anti-age components that reverse the general aging of
the skin.

Aging
8
Nacer, Crecer, Envejecer ...
CHRONOLOGICAL “Real Age”
BIOLOGICAL· SENESCENCE “Apparent Age”
Determined by age. This dermal
process cannot be avoided,
and is part of the normal life
cycle: being born, growing up
and aging …
Determined by stress factors (UV
radiation, genetic factors, free
radicals, DNA failures, etc.) This refers
to the state of health of our cells, i.e.,
when one’s appearance does not
match one’s chronological age.

PRO-YOUTH STRATEGIES
EXTRINSIC FACTORS Sun, Stress, Tabaco, Free radicals
Telomerase agents
They artificially lengthen the life expectancy of adult cells
(new and old).
Stem cells
They promote the generation of new cells from stem cells. (cosmet. It is applicable to tissues that already contain them).
Anti-senescence marker therapies They reverse aging in old cells and delay aging in young
ones.
10
Pro-youth strategies
Their size and shape is different
- reduction in their functional capacity, which is responsible for the signs of age.
- they have lost their capacity to replicate themselves or divide.
+ greater resistance to mutation processes (neoplasias) or cell death.
11
Adult cell
Senescent cell
“The phase when adult
cells evolve to a senescent
stage”
Senescence
12
“A molecule/structure present in
all senescent cells.”
The marker that is currently giving promising results in combating
age is PROGERIN.
PROGERIN is an alteration of the protein laminA and it plays a part in the premature aging disease, Progeria or Hutchinson-Gilford Syndrome.
Senescence markers
Lamin A is a protein responsible for maintaining
the cell nucleus structure. It degenerates with
time and is converted into progerin, a toxic,
disfunctional protein that produces
malformations in the nucleus structure.
With respect to cells this leads to an alteration in
their functioning, which is reduced to a state of
low-functionality or senescence.
With respect to skin it leads to the dreaded
signs of age (apparent or biological age).
13
Senescence markers
Progerin.
The concentration of progerin gives us an idea of the biological
age(health) of the cells.

In the skin, progerin is present in the skin in fibroblasts and keratinocytes
It is estimated that progerin accumulates at a rate of 3% per year and
increases with age (from the age of 55).

Progerin and skin
GLOBAL LIFT [ProGEN-in] is an exclusive technology developed
by SKEYNDOR® that is based on anti-senescence marker
therapies.
A global anti-age strategy designed to achieve a facial
redefining effect, which restores the fullness of the jaw line and
attenuates submental fat in mature skin.
It is targeted at: progerin, a cell aging marker which makes it
possible to estimate the biological age of the cells.
The ultimate objective: to improve the functioning of cells with a
slow metabolism, which results in a loss of thickness, firmness and
resilience in the tissues, found in mature and/or photoaged skin.
17
18
[ProGEN-in] TECHNOLOGY IS BASED ON THE EFFECTS OF THREE SPECIFIC
ACTIVE SUBSTANCES:
-Biomimetic peptide derived from Elafin, winner of the
Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award 2012 at In-cosmetics®,
Barcelona 2012. An enzymatic inhibitor with anti-progerin and
anti-elastase activity that combats flaccidity in mature skin.
-Menyanthes trifoliata extract, a potent next-generation antioxidant that protects the cellular Vitamin C content, a key
cofactor in improving the quality and quantity of collagen in the
skin.
- α-glucans and black pepper (Piper nigrum)
rhamnogalacturonans. Molecules that act on the profound
dermis –reticular dermis- and improves the skin’s mechanical
properties (supportive), particularly in prematurely photoaged
skin.

A specialist evaluated 20 volunteers aged between 50 and 69, and determined their Mean
Sagging Skin Index (MSSI) before and after treatment with Global Lift*, based on:
All the volunteers had slight to moderate sagging of the face, cheeks and neck: 1 to 3.5 on a scale of 0
(without) to 4 (very significant).
The improvement in firmness was assessed objectively with the non-parametric Wilcoxon Exact Test
comparing the results of D0 and D28.
Empirical formula
IFM= (Sum of score obtained for
cheeks/jaw line and neck) / 2
0 = IFM No sagging
0 < IFM ≤ 1 Slight
1 < IFM ≤ 2 Moderate
2 < IFM ≤ 3 Significant
3 < IFM ≤ 4 Very significant
and the table
Sagging tissue scale. 0-Firm skin (terse, perfect adapted to muscle, immediate return)
1-Slight sagging (terse, small wrinkles when pressed, immediate return)
2- Moderate sagging (small wrinkles, median when pressed, slow but complete
return).
3-Sagging skin (wrinkles without pressing, partial detachment of muscle, slow and
incomplete return).
4-Extremely loose skin (large wrinkles, total detachment of muscle, no return).

“After 28 days of treatment, there is a reduction in the Mean Sagging
Skin Index (MSSI) of 12.5% in the whole panel and 15% in the quartile
of most reactive volunteers (70%), which is statistically significant
(p<0.001).”
It is concluded that thanks to the Global Lift*
treatment, the skin is rejuvenated by 5 to 6 years on average in terms of apparent sagging.
