Series An on going TV programme that has different episodes and seasons. Usually uses a single camera technique but sitcoms use multi camera

as it is faster and cheaper. Genres of the series range from comedy to sci-fi. Dramas normally last 45 minuets with adverts where comedies last half

an hour. Series are normally on the TV but can later be let out on DVD and blue

ray.

Serial A one off drama split up into parts, usually day by day but

sometimes will be weekly until the series has finished. Uses a single camera technique as it is cheaper and

easier to use with actors. Some genres associated with series are: horror, fantasy… the plot of the series unfolds within a number of

episodes. secrets and twists are revealed at the end of the series.

Single drama A one off single programme Very expensive to produce Uses a single camera technique to allow more

control A dramatic and usually a fictional programme. Single dramas are aired on TV but can be

released on DVD.

Documentary/Docudrama Based on a real life event Usually single camera but rarely multi camera. Shown on TV but can be released on DVD. Can be different genres like Nature, real life events… Docudramas are like documentaries but are played by actors.

Soap Opera Everyday of the week every month. Often have special episodes at Christmas and New

year. Multi camera is used as they are faster and cheaper to

produce. Soap operas are always dramatic and exaggerated. Some examples are Eastenders, Coronation street…

Feature film

Uses single camera to have more control. Normally 70 minuets in length including excluding trailers. Are premiered in cinemas then later released on DVD. Also available on Netflix or love film ect… Genres range from Action to horror and comedy.

Music Video Produced to showcase a new song that and artist or band

has brought out. Shown on a the TV on a music channel, can also be

watched online on YouTube… Shot with a single camera usually but live parts are filmed

with multi camera. A lot of thought goes into wardrobe and makeup to make

the artist look their best.
