• Film Posters are a very good way of promoting a movie as there are many different areas that you can put them to appeal to a target audience. For example you can put them in places such as:

1. Billboards

2. Bus Stops/Buses

3. Cinemas

4. In Magazines

5. On the Underground

6. Flyers

7. Similar DVD’s

• As you can see, there are many different places that you can put film posters so that they can reach your target audience in interesting ways.

• Another, deeper method of promoting your film through posters and managing to effectively reach your target audience, is to place the posters in similar areas to where the target audience would generally go.

• For example, if you are promoting your film trailer to young or even old females, it might be a good idea to place large posters or billboards in or near shopping centres as they are going to be more likely to see it.

• Another example, if you are promoting a film to an audience that consists of mainly men, it might be a goo idea to place the poster in some form at gym’s as men tend to frequent the gym more than women.

• For the most part, magazine covers are an important part of advertising films, however the types of films that you advertise in this way are a lot more limited than say the use of film posters. This is due to the fact that there is a very specific type of audience for magazines.

• This is mainly due to the fact that not all young people have the money to buy magazines, and most older people have no interest in reading film magazines. It I generally a much more niche market of around 18-30 year olds.

• These types of audience also have a preferred genre of film that they are more likely going to watch. These generally include Superhero Movies, Action Movies and Horrors. They also usually feature Fantasy and Sci-Fi movies as they are also appealing to this type of audience.

We can see from the majority of these magazine covers that there is a very similar theme. The cover either consists of a blockbuster action movie, a popular fantasy or sci-fi movie or a superhero movie.

Most magazine covers features this type of theme as the creators know that it is the best way to get people interested in the magazine. I however, think that it would be a good idea to have more romance and drama magazine covers to appeal to the more feminine side as I found it hard to find magazine covers that relate to the drama genre.
