Suggested Answer• Excessive food consumption refers to consuming food in quantities

beyond what the body’s daily requirement. Sustained period of excessive consumption will lead to the individual storing additional fats on the body as the body has no use for the additional food consumed. This accumulation of fats will lead to the body’s key functions being taxed heavily beyond the norm. Prolonged taxing of the organs would lead to damage and even failure. A common ailment is cardiovascular disease.

• For the individual, a negative effect of suffering from such chronic disease is the inability to report to work. This affects the productivity level of the individual. The company is affected and the individual is often punished economically. (Denial of pay increments / termination of employment)

• For school going individuals, when they are diagnosed with chronic illness, they are unable to take part in some of the key activities in school. They are also more prone to taking sick leave and as a result lose out on their learning opportunities.
